RICE who had served on the Council. <br />COUNCILMAN BRITSCHGI NOTED EMBANKMENT AT HAWES °.PARK and thought this should be corrected by completing Oak <br />Street through to Johnson. City Engineer Jain stated the people in the Johnson Street area refused <br />to have storm drains put in. One resident refused to let them put in ditch unless underground and <br />this could not be done without assessing her property which was what should have been done., Mayor <br />Werder suggested that Councilman Britschgi and City Engineer meet with the Real Estate Committee <br />in regard to securing enough easement for a ditch and report back. Mr. Jain stated permission was <br />given to take old fence down by putting up a new one. <br />CLAII43 NO's 6320 to 641,9 in elusive in the amount of $72,174.97 was approved for payment on motion of <br />Councilman Morgan, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br />COUNCILMAN GRANGER OFFERED RESOLUTION AND MOVED ADOPTION TO ADJOURN MEETING IN MEMORY OF THE LATE T. C. <br />RICE, FORMER COUNCILMAN, copy of resolution to be sent to his family, and to spread upon the minutes, <br />seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried on roll call. .. <br />RES(OLUTI0N N0. 735 <br />RESOLUTION COMMEMORATING MEMORY OF T. CLARK RICE <br />WHEREAS, on June 27, 1949, T. CLARK RICE passed from this life to his eternal:eward and it is <br />fitting that the City Council of the City of RedWoodCity appropriately record his long, faithful and <br />distinguished public services in this community; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Redwood City that we here <br />record the esteem and affection in which the said T. CLARK RICE is aid, for more than fifty (50) <br />years, has been held by members of this Council, the officers and members of the city government; <br />that we hereby commemorate Mr.Rice's outstanding services to this City as a member of the City <br />Council and for playing a leading role for more than half a century ;Ln the growth and development <br />of this City. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that we attest the sterling character of our friend, his courage, <br />dedoti6n to public service, often at great personal sacrifice, his integrity and reliability, <br />and his wholehearted support of all things which would make his city a better one in which to live. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be spread on the minutes of this Council, that we <br />adjourn'this-.meeting in memory of T. CLARK RICE, and that dopies of this resolution, certified <br />by our Clerk, be sent to his son and,&ughter, to whom we extend our sympathies in this bereavement. <br />I, RALPH S.
