265 <br />MINUTES OF ADJOURNED MEETING <br />REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br />July 252 1949s 8:00 P. its. <br />ON ROLL CALL THE FOLLOWING WERE PRESENT: Councilmen: Floyd D. Granger, A. H. Morgan, Jr. <br />R. V. Spillers, A. V. Swift, H. E. Holmquist, C. A. Britschgi, City Clerk R."S. <br />Dodge. Mayor Werder noted absent. Also present were: City Manager E. A. Rolison, <br />® City Engineer Glenn M. Jain, Water Superintendent H. L. Winter, City Attorney C. B. <br />Currie, Police Chief C. L. Collins, Assistant Building Inspector Stephen Kreiss, <br />and Administrative Assistant R. D. Miller. <br />THIS BEING AN ADJOURNED MEETING, Councilman Britschgi continued as chairman in the <br />j absence of Mayor Werder, inasmuch as he was appointed acting mayor at the original <br />Council meeting of July 18th. <br />HOOVER SCHOOL DISTRICT BUILDING COP.MITTEE submitted a letter outlining the work already <br />done on the Hoover School Recreation Building, and asking that the Council .define the <br />present status of their request made June 20 for an additional $3000 with which to <br />complete this building. City Manager Rolison stated that in his opinion, as pre- <br />viously contained in a letter written by him to the City Council, adequate plans and <br />( specifications should be submitted before further money was expended on this project. <br />��. It was his suggestion that a reputable contractor be asked to submit detailed plans <br />for the completion of the building. Councilman Granger moved, seconded by Council- <br />man Holmquist, that the City Manager, Messrs. M. P. Traver and C. W. Rose, other <br />proper authorities inclusing the Recreation Commission, should meet and bring back <br />,II ® a definite recommendation to the Council. Motion carried. <br />i �!1 LABORIS LEAGUE FOR POLITICAL EDUCATION asked that the City Council go on record as end ors - <br />t ing HR 4190, a bill to allocate shipbuilding work to the West Coast, which is now <br />I <br />before the Merchant Marine and Fisheries Committee of the House. Councilman <br />Holmquist moved that the Council go on record as endorsing the bill, seconded by <br />E4 Councilman Spillers, and carried. <br />$ BIDS FOR SPRINKLER SYSTEM TO BE INSTALLED AT COMMUNITY PARK were discussed, having been <br />I� <br />11!11!{ held over from the previous meeting due to the fact that the low bidder, Redwood <br />'y Plumbing Company (Sadler) had submitted an unsigned bid. Daniel Creedon appeared <br />for Mr. Sadler, as a member of the Peninsula Master Plumbers. He stated that an <br />unsigned bid was customary with the Master Plumbers, but that Mr. Sadler was willing <br />to sign a proper agreement with the City, and that he definitely would standby his <br />I <br />bid. City Attorney Currie advised that it was within the power of the Council to <br />waive any irregularity in this bid, and to accept or reject it as they saw fit. <br />4_ that if the Cit Attorney advised that this waiving of <br />Councilman Morgan moved y y g <br />i <br />!� irregularity was in order, the award be given to Mr. Sadler of Redwood Plumbing Co. <br />Seconded by Councilman Spillers, and carried on roll call vote, Councilman Britschgi <br />II <br />Y1 voting No. Councilman Holmquist moved, seconded by Councilman Spillers, that the <br />City Attorney be authorized to draw up a contract for the installation of the <br />i' sprinkling system at Community Park, and the City Manager be authorized to execute <br />said contract. Motion carried. <br />ELECTRIC LAMP CONTRACT for fiscal year 19k9-50.
