<br />INTRODUCTION OF ORDINANCE PERMITTING INSTALLATION OF PIPE LINE BY NATIONAL MOTOR BEARING
<br />COMPANY. National Motor Bearing will lay pipe line along easement owned by City,
<br />but will not be granted exclusive rights to this easement. They will also pay costs
<br />of Publication of extra paragraphs of ordinance, and will include detector valve
<br />for checking water usage, will also install line in conformance with the requirements
<br />of the Redwood City Water Department. Councilman Holmquist moved introduction of
<br />ordinance, seconded by Councilman Spillers, and carried on roll call, Councilman
<br />Britschgi voting Ido. Mayor Warder noted absent.
<br />SEWER LINE TESTS: Appearances were made by Mr. Menifee, attorney for Peter Sorensen,
<br />Mr. Holmes, engineer, Mr. Marshall, engineer, who endeavored to establish that
<br />Sorensen, as contractor, had built the lines according to the Plans and Specifica-
<br />tions of the City, and that therefore any fault in the lines was the responsibility
<br />of the City. City Engineer Jain, City Manager Rolison and consulting engineer Jack -�
<br />Frost replied, pointing out that in the present condition of the lines conclusive
<br />tests were not possible, and asked that Sorensen plug the open ends of his line
<br />so that accurate tests could be made. After lengthy discussion, Councilman
<br />Holmquist moved, seconded by Councilman Spillers, that the matter be turned over to
<br />the City Manager, who would arrange that tests be conducted and report back to the
<br />Council at the first meeting in August, motion carried.
