by .one-half (2) of the owners of the property proposed to be assessed for said work 27 <br />and improvements; and <br />WHEREAS, said Council has acquired jurisdiction to order said work and Improve- <br />ments: <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Redwood City <br />that the public interest and convenience require the work and improvements herein <br />described,' and the Council of the City of Redwood City hereby orders the following <br />work to be done and improvements to be made in said City of Redwood City, to -wit: <br />(a) Grading and construction of pavement, curbs and gutters, sidewalks, <br />and driveway approaches on Johnson Street between Roosevelt and Oak <br />Avenues; <br />(b) Construction of storm drainage structures at intersections of Johnson <br />Street with Roosevelt Avenue and Oak Avenue. <br />FURTHER RESOLVED that the work and improvements hereinabove described shall be <br />done under the direction of the City Engineer of said City of Redwood City, and that <br />materials used therein shall comply with the specifications heretofore adopted; and <br />that the assessments to be made in said proceeding shall be made and signed by said <br />City Engineer. <br />The Clerk of the City of Redwood City is hereby ordered and directed to post a <br />notice conspicuously for five (5) days on or near the Council Chamber door of the <br />Council of said City of Redwood City inviting sealed proposals or bids for doing <br />the work and making the improvements ordered herein. Said City Clerk is also ordered <br />and directed to publish a notice inviting such sealed proposals or bids and refer- <br />ring to the plans, profiles, detailed drawings and specifications on file for the <br />period required by law in the Redwood City Tribune, a daily (except Sunday) news- <br />paper of general circulation published, printed and circulated in the City of Redwood <br />City, and hereby designated for that purpose by.the Council of said City. <br />IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that said sealed proposals or bids be publicly opened, <br />examined and declared by the Council of said City of Redwood City at the hour of <br />8:00 o'clock P.M. of Monday, the 11th day of October, 1948, and all bids must be <br />filed with the Clerk of the Council of the City of Redwood City on or before such <br />date and hour. <br />I hereby certify the foregoing to be a true copy of Resolution No. 616 adopted <br />by the City Council at a regular meeting thereof held on the 27th day of September, <br />1948; at the Council Chambers in the City Hall, Redwood City,'California. <br />IN WITNESS WHEREOF I have hereunto set my hand and the seal of said City this <br />29th day of September, 1948. <br />RALPH S. Councilman Britschgi offered resolution and moved <br />adoption, seconded by Councilman Holmquist and carried on roll call. Councilman <br />Spillers and Mayor Werder noted absent. City Manager Rolison explained that the <br />water main on -Johnson Street was inadequate and that it would be necessary to in- <br />stall at an approximate cost of $4800 a new 6 inch main. After it was explained <br />that it would not be necessary for bids inasmuch as the material was on hand and <br />installation labor would be supplied by the City, Councilman Britschgi moved, seconed <br />by Councilman Holmquist, that the City Manager be authorized to spend not more than <br />$4800 to extend the 6 inch main. Motion carried. <br />RES.O LUT ION No. 617 <br />RESOLUTION FIXING MINIMUM WAGE SCALE <br />JOHNSON STREET 1948-4. <br />WHEREAS the City Engineer of the City of Redwood City has ascertained the <br />general prevailing rate of per diem wages in the locality in which said public <br />work is proposed to be performed for work of a similar character to that described <br />in Resolution of Intention No. 610, adopted August 30, 1948, by the City Council <br />of the City of Redwood City; and <br />WHEREAS said rate of per diem wages,is set forth and contained in the speci- <br />fications for said project, copies of which are on file in the office of said 'City <br />Engineer and also in the office of the City Clerk of said city; and <br />WHEREAS the City Council of Redwood City has duly considered said scale and <br />finds the same to be correct in all particulars; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Redwood <br />City, as follows: <br />1.
