Steffins requesting permission to construct a <br />parking lot on E1 Camino Real 125 feet south of Roosevelt Avenue. The intention <br />was to rent this lot to the merchants in that area for customer parking. After a <br />discussion as to whether or riot this should come under the Business License Ordinance, <br />Councilman Holmquist moved that Mr. Steffins' letter and diagram be filed and made <br />a part of the record and permission be granted to Mr. Steffins with the under- <br />standing that this property was not to be used for any other purpose without ob- <br />taining the necessary permit. Motion carried. <br />COUNCILMAN GRANGER REQUESTED INFORMATION AS TO THE POSSIBLE DATE OF REMOVAL OF .THE <br />Pacific Telephone & Telegraph Company's poled on Jefferson Avenue, suggesting that <br />City Manager Rolison secure information and report back at the next meeting. Agenda. <br />COUNCILMAN GRANGER ASKED THE PRESENT STATUS OF STUDY OF THE SALARY SCHEDULE regarding <br />steps in the Fire and Police Department Salaries. This matter was referred to the <br />Personnel Board for further study and recommendation. <br />COUNCILMAN GRANGER ASKED PRESENT STATUS OF Pacific Gas & Electric Poles between Broadway <br />on Jefferson <br />and Marshall Street. Fire Chief Lodi explained that there were 3 poles left which <br />were carrying street light equipment but some of the work would be the responsibil- <br />ity of the City. City Manager Rolison will check into this matter and report back <br />at the next meeting. This will be placed*on the agenda. <br />COUNCILMAN GRANGER REQUESTED INFORMATION REGARDING THE RECENT NEWSPAPER ARTICLE REFERRING <br />to the use of the Addressograph Machines for private business. Assessor'Brophy <br />explained that the incidents quoted had occurred some time ago and that the girls <br />in the Water Department had received permission to address the envelopes referred <br />to. He assured the Council that this could not happen again. <br />REGARDING THE BIDS ON THE 1-1/2 ton trucks City Manager Rolison recommended that the <br />Council consider his recommendation at the next meeting to be held on the 4th of <br />October. <br />CLAIMS No. 4374 to 4453, totaling $77,376.26 were approved and ordered paid on motion <br />of Councilman Swift and seconded by Councilman Britschgi.
