Pipe and Foundry Company <br />had informed the City that delivery could not be made until December 15th on the <br />900 feet of 12 inch cast iron pipe required by the Water Department to complete this <br />source of supply to the Redwood Industrial Area. Councilman Holmquist moved that <br />City Manager Rolison be authorized to advertise for bids, seconded by Councilman <br />Spillers, and carried. <br />IN REGARDS TO REMOVAL OF DEAD OAK TREE NEAR THE CORNER of Whipple Avenue and Woodstock <br />Way, City Manager recommended that while the City was not legally responsible, it <br />would seem since the tree presented a public hazard and the larger portion was <br />located in the sidewalk area, that the City would be justified in assuming payment <br />of $140 or two-thirds of the cost of removal, Mr. Carrington to pay the balance of <br />the $210 estimate. Councilman Granger moved that City Manager Rolison contact Mr. <br />Carrington and suggest prorating of removal of tree, seconded by Councilman Holmquist, <br />Councilman Granger asked if a bid could be invited on this wood if cut. Alfred <br />j Morton stated that some wood had been set aside for the fireplace at the Community <br />Center. Motion carried. <br />REQUEST FOR SEWER CONNECTION BY ALBERT & MARY A. VALENTI, COUNTY SIDE FACING EATON AVENUE <br />between Frances Land and Clifford Avenue was discussed. City Engineer Jain stated <br />that some time ago he was instructed that no more connections would be allowed out- <br />side of the City. Mr. Valenti appeared and stated that inasmuch as his lot sloped <br />up toward the rear a septic tank could not be used and there was not enough footage <br />in front to put one in. City Manager Rolison stated that various other applications <br />had been received. Question before the Council was wheter or not to set a precedent <br />and reverse their previous decision. Councilman Spillers moved that permission be jI <br />granted to connect with the City sewer line, but was lost for want of second. Coun- <br />cilmanBritschgi moved that the request be denied in line with the City Engineer's <br />report on the Council^s previous decision, seconded by Councilman Swift. Mr. Valenti <br />was instructed that he could apply for annexation to the City. Motion carried. <br />RESIGNATION OF GENE HOFFMAN, MEMBER OF THE PERSONNEL BOARD, was read by City Clerk Dodge. <br />Mr. Hoffman stated that because of other duties, he regretted that he was not able <br />to give the time required for this position. Councilman Granger moved that his <br />resignation be accepted with regret and expressed appreciation for past services <br />rendered, seconded by Councilman Holmquist, and cArried. Mayor Werder asked that <br />the Council members give consideration between now and the next meeting for the <br />appointment of someone to fill the position. <br />PLANNING COMMISSION, RECOMMENDED DISAPPROVAL OF APPLICATION OF H. Triano to resubdivide <br />Lot 1, Block C, Woodside Acres No. 1, as re -subdivision would make all lots under <br />size and without proper access. Councilman Britschgi moved that recommendation be <br />upheld, seconded by Councilman Holmquist, and carried. <br />PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDED APPROVAL OF APPLICATION OF MARY Mac ADAMS for resub- <br />division of Lots 1 and 12, Block 1, Oak Knoll Manor (290 Nevada) to provide one <br />lot 54.94 feet wide by 85 feet deep, with a total area of 7,225 square feet. <br />Action had been taken on this at a study meeting of the Planning Commiaaion. For <br />this reason Councilman Spillers moved that this be placed on agenda for the next <br />meeting with the understanding that the people be so notified, seconded by Council - <br />man Granger, and carried. <br />i <br />
