Coymcilman Granger reported tha t <br />it was the opinion of the Mayor and himself that the City attempt to retain this area. Councilman Brits- <br />chgi moved that the High School be notified that the City wished to keep this portion of ground, second- <br />ed by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br />COUNCILMAN GRANGER ASKED THE CITY ATTORNEY TO LOOK INTO THE QUESTION OF WHETHER OR NOT THERE WASA-NEED FOR <br />AN ORDINANCE TOPROTECT PEDESTRIANS. <br />CITY ATTORNEY REQUESTED THAT REVISION CF BUIIDING CODE BOUT ON AGENDA with reference to using percentage <br />of normal or marketable value for remodelling instead of the present 25%. To report next regular <br />meeting. <br />COUNCILMAN GRANGER SUGGESTED ADOPTION OF RESOLUTION NEXT MEETING FOR EMPLOYMENT.OF HANDICAPPED? National <br />Handicapped Week. City Attorney Currie was to prepare resolution, Councilman Granger to supply some <br />material. <br />COUNCILMAN SPILLERS THOUGHT THE COMMUNITY BUILDING WAS IN NEED OF PAINTING. Money was appropriated for the <br />coming year toward the painting of the building. Mayor Werder thought if it should be done prior to <br />the rainy season proper officials should be expected to take care of it. <br />COUNCILMAN HOLMQUIST NOTED THAT MILE ON VACATION HE OBSERVED TRAFFIC CONDITIONS IN other cities and towns <br />and thought something should be done in RedwoodCity in regard to pedestrian traffic. Mayor Werder had <br />spoken with the City Manager on this subject and believed a program was forthcoming to correct exist- <br />ing conditions. This need had been discussed at previous Council meetings,, and everyone was in accord <br />that right of way for pedestrians in walk lanes should be observed by motorists. City Attorney was to <br />report on whether or not pedestrians must walk'in pedestrian lanes. <br />'CLAIMS NOS 1357 to 71387 inclusive, in the amount of $77,546.90 were approved for payment on motion of Council- <br />man Morgan and carried. <br />MAYOR WERDER THOUGHT IT WOULD BE IN ORDER FOR THE COUNCI;kO ADJOURN IN HONOR OF POLICE CHIEF C. L.COLLINS who <br />had been with the City probably longer than any other member of thoity family and was retirldg at the - <br />end of this month. <br />COUNCILMAN MORGAN MOVED THAT THE MEETING ADJOURN IN HONOR OF POLICE CHIEF C.
