VJERDER <br />Mayor of the City of Redwood City <br />LETTER FROM THE CHAMBER,OF COMMERCE WAS READ OPPOSING THE RATES and a resolution adopted by a:.unanimous- <br />vote and stating that copies were forwarded to the Public Utilities Commission and the President of <br />i <br />the Southern Pacific Oompany requesting no further increases at this time. Councilman Granger moved <br />that the letter be acknowledged thanking the Chamber of Commerce for assisting the City Council•.in <br />writing this letter, seconded by Councilman Morgan and carried. <br />MR. MARZLAN APfE ARED IN°REGARD TO STOP SIGN ATV'VALOTA.AND ROOSEVEL , cit#g accidents in the yard of one (� <br />neighbor on the corner and asking for more stringent measures to slow up traffic as the slow signs all <br />had not been effective. The Traffic Fact Finding Committee requested stop signs on Roosevelt. Mr. <br />Marzlan thought signs should be placed on Valota, however, City Engineer Jain explained the Police <br />Department had made a survey and recommended that the arterial (Valota'Road) be protected. Council- <br />man Morgan offered resolution and moved adoption'that stop signs be placed on Roosevelt, seconded <br />by Councilman Spillers and carried on roll call. <br />RESOLUTION N'0. 788 <br />STOP SIGNS ON ROOSEVELT AVENUE <br />RESOLVED that the intersection of Roosevelt Avenue and Valota Road is hereby declared to be <br />a stop intersection and stop signs of approved type and design facing northeasterly and south- <br />westerly bound traffic on Roosevelt Avenue are hereby authorized and directed to be installed on <br />Roosevelt Avenue at-'Valota Road. <br />Passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Redwood City at a regular meeting thereof, <br />held on the 3rd day of October, 1949, by the following vote: <br />AYES, and in favor of the passage and adoption of the foregoing resolution, Councilmen: <br />BRITSCHGI, GRANGER, HOLMQUIST, MORGAN, SPILLERS, SWIFT and WEEDER. <br />NOES,.Councilmen: NONE. <br />ABSENT, Councilmen: NONE. <br />W. City Attorney'Currie stated in <br />the last three days he had talked to Mr.Reynard of the Pacific Gas and Electric Company and Mr. <br />Reynard suggested that Mr.Currie write directly to Mr. Snell, who would in turn write theVice <br />Presidentfor the appropriation to remove the pit.
