323 <br />that $15,000 would be needed for more extensive maintenance and development for the first year requir= <br />ing two full-time men, materials and equipment for the firsvylear. This would not include a sprinkler <br />system, but would provide lawn, sidewalks and 12 foot roadway. This year's budget did not provide for <br />such a program, but if the Council wished this type of program could be presented for consideration <br />next year. Some members of the Council were of the opinion that the City could do some painting and <br />cleaning up other than Memoria3bay, that setback lines should be determined in order to start a hedge, <br />and it was suggested that two Council members be appointed for such a committee to report back what <br />action should be taken as soon as possible. <br />ENGINEERING ASSISTANT. Councilman Granger moved that this be carried on the agenda as there had not been <br />time to consider this position, to be brought up at a study meeting or with the City Engineer when <br />convenient, seconded by Councilman Spillersand carried. <br />ATTORNEY WAGSTAFF APPEARED FOR A. L. WEISLER, IN RE TO REQUEST FOR REZONE OF LOT 3, BLOCK 1,(Vllesley Avenues <br />near Elbamino Real), WELLESLEZ PARK FROM R-1 to R-4 as this was the time set for public hearing. This <br />had been presented to the Planning Commission and they saw no need for a change in the.;zoning. Mir. <br />Wagstaff stated they did not wish to request spot zoning which this would appear to be as C-1 existed <br />at present contingent to R-1, but he did request that a strip between the drive-in and R-1 be recon- <br />sidered by the Planning Commission and if necessary create a new type of zoning to meet the problem <br />of this strip. He stated that neighbors who opposed an apartment house in this strip were not in <br />complete agreement on the matter. They objected to anything going in there which would be permitted <br />in an R-4 district and therefore did not wish to see this rezoned. Councilman Holmquist moved this <br />be referred back to the Planning Commission, seconded by Councilman Spillervanpcarried. <br />PUBLIC HEARING ON AMUSEMENT MACHINE ORDINANCE. Mayor Werder ordered affidavit of publication filed. <br />ORDINANCE 624 - AMUSEMENT MACHINE ORDINANCE. 'Councilman Spillers moved adoption of ordinance, seconded by <br />Councilman Holmquist and carried on roll call. <br />PUBLIC HEARING ON NO -PARKING ZONE ON WHIPPLE AVENUE AND EL CAM INO REI ORDINANCE. Mayor Werder ordered <br />the affidavit of publication filed. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 625, ESTABLISHING NO-PARKING,ZONE ON WHIPPLE AVENUE AND EL CAMINO REAL was adopted on motion <br />of Councilman Holmquist seconded by Councilman Granger and carried on roll call.. <br />PUBLIC HEARING ON 15 -MINUTE PARKING ZONE ON BREVPSTER AVENUE ORDINANCE. Mayor Werder ordered the affidavit <br />of publication filed. <br />ORDINANCE 626, ESTABLISHING 15 -MINUTE PARKING ZONE ON BREWSTER AVENUE in front of Greyhound Alas Depot was <br />adopted on motion of Councilma#Spillers, seconded by Councilman Holmquis t and carried on roll call* <br />PUBLIC HEARING ON ESTABLISHING AND ABOLISHING BUS LOADING ZONES ORDINANCE. Mayor_4erder ordered the affi- <br />davit of publication filed. <br />ORDINANCE 627 ESTABLISHING BUS STOPS AT KUHN'S JEWELRY STORE and IN FRONT OF BUTLER BROTHERSq ELIMINATING <br />STOP AT HAMILTON - all on Broadway, was adopted on motion of Councilman Morgan, seconded by Councilman <br />Granger and carried on roll call. <br />PUBLIC HEARING ON WEED ABATEMENT.. Mayor Werder ordered the affidavit of posting by the Superintendent of <br />Streets to be filed. <br />RESOLUTION 789 CONFIRMING WEED ABATEMENT was offered and moved for adoption by Councilman Britschgi, seconded <br />by Councilman Spillers and carried on roll call. <br />RESOLUTION N0. 789 <br />CONFIRMING WEED ABATEMENT REPORT <br />WHEREAS by Resolution No. 6693 adopted by the Council of Redwood City on February 7, 1949, cer- <br />tain weeds in said City were declared to be a nuisance; and <br />VEEREAS by Resolution No. 685, adoptee by said Council on March 21, 1949, the Superintendent of <br />Streets of RedwoodCity was ordered to abate the aforementioned nuisance by removing said weeds; and <br />
