LENOLT TRACT IMPROVEMENTS. It was explained that due to typographical error in the newspaper it was necessary 3
to introduce resolution to start the program again, and because of this the Council did not call for
bids at the last meeting. Acting Mayor Granger stated that whether the work was started now or in the
y
spring was up to the property owners in Lenolt, that the Council would do exactly as they wished and
that if they called for bids, if possible it might be well to vait until March in order to give the con-
tractor 120 clear days to work. However, the work would start now if they wished. Mr. Ronan, Mrs.
Clane, Mrs. Perkins and Mrs. Smith, also other representing Lenolt spoke. Opinion seemed to be divided.
Some of the residents and Council members were of the opinion that a contractor would not tear up all
the streets at once but complete a block or two at a timg, but Cityitngineer explained that the City
could not dictate to the contractor in whAt manner he shohld do the work. Mayor Granger stated that
once the work was started the City would not be called upon to stand the expense of putting in rock fill
for them to get in and out and that all the.cities do the Peninsula were taking a stand to cancel all
street work during the winter. Each Council member expressed the same opinion and all wished the minutes
to record their stand in this matter that the City eould not spend any rioney to maintain streets until
the streets were completed. Councilman Spillers offered resolution and moved, adoption calling for bids,
seconded by Councilman Morgan and carried on roll call. Mayor Werder noted absent.
RES 0LUTI0N N0. 802
ORDERING CALL FOR BIDS - LENOLT
RESOLVED by theCouncil of Redwood City that the said Council does hereby invite sealed proposals
or bids for the doing of all the work described in Resolution of Intention No. 799, adopted by said
Council on October 313 1949, to which resolution reference is hereby made for further particulars.
FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the City of Redwood City is hereby ordered and directed to
post a notice conspicuously for five (5) days on or near the Council Chamber door of the Council of
said City of Redwood City,,inviting sealed proposals or bids for doing the work and making<the improve-
ments described in Resolution of Intention No. 799• Said City Clerk is also ordered and directed to
publish a notice inviting said sealed proposals or bids for the period required by law in the Redwood
Citytribune, a daily (except Sunday) newspaper of general circulation, published, printed and circulated '
in the City of Redwoaltity, and hereby designated for that purpose by theCouncil of said City.
