Cit#ngineer reported that it would cost about $100 to °110 to enlarge the rddius <br />of this corner plus the /moving of a fire hydrant and Pacific Gas &Electric manhole. Councilman Brit- <br />schgi moved that necessary steps be taken to correct this, seconded by Councilman Morgan and c arried. <br />REQUEST OF JOSEPH & PAS'QUALINA SODINI, CAN M- S OF 755 EL CAMINO REAL TO TRANSFER LIQUOR LICENSE LOCATED IN <br />THEIR STORE AT EAST PALO ALTO. The Council had previously voted against this and the Trustees of <br />Sequoia Union High School recotnendation was against re -issuance or transfer. Councilman Swift <br />moved that license be denied and Board of Equalization be notified of Council's action in the matter, <br />seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br />l' REPORT ON BID OPENINGS, ADDITION TO FIRE HOUSE #2. City Manager Rolison stated there were some complications <br />�{{ on bids and should be checked in regard to legal aspects. Councilman Spillers moved that this be placed <br />on agenda for further report, seconded by Councilman Morgan and carried. <br />REPORT OF BID OPENINGS ON LEADERS AND GUTTERON CITY HALL AND LIBRARY. Superior Plumbing and IIeating had <br />li low bid of $4250 with scaffolds. erected and j680 less or °$:3570 if the City erected scaffolds. Willis <br />Maloney bid $4754.40 with scaffolds and $3890.40 excluding sca££olds« Bids were called for both ways <br />and if bidder erected scaffolds they would be left up for•the painting of the buildings. Councilman <br />Spillers moved that bid be awarded to Superior Plumbing and Heating Company for $4250 including the <br />scaffolds being left erected for painting, seconded by Councilman Britschgi andccarried. <br />REPORT ON BID OPENINGS, ROCK FILL FOR ANI?•'IAL SHELTER. The following were submitted: <br />1 - Sanders Construction Co. .89 per cu yd. <br />2 - Douglass & Woodhouse 401.23 " " " <br />3 — Peter Sorensen .0$1.50 <br />Cityl,ngineer Jain recommended that low bid of Sanders Construction Company be awarded provided that <br />legality of bid be certified by City Attorney. He did not sign the bid except as the company signature, <br />not an officer of the company. The contractor signed the bid as of this date. City Engineer also asked <br />for material samples, statement of financial responsibility, technical ability, and experience before <br />contract was to be signed, evidence of adequate compensation, public liability and property damage <br />insurance to be furnished the City Clerk. He also recommended, if legally possible, that bid bonds <br />of other bidders be retained until after signing of contract with successful bidder. Councilman <br />■ Morgan moved this be placed on agenda City Manager to contact contractor and have him fill require- <br />ments. Motion was lost for watt of a second. Discussion followed and Council did not want bids sub- <br />, <br />mitted for their approval in the future which werenot properly signed. Councilman Spillers moved that <br />all bids be denied and new bids called, no bids were to be brought up before theCouncil in the future <br />unless properly signed, seconded by Councilman Britschgi. Amendment of Councilman Morgan that advertise- <br />ment carry the words "all bids must be signed" and "uniform bid forms" to be used was accepted by the <br />maker and second. City Engineer stated bid forms were not used unless there were more than one item. <br />Specifications could be included if the Council desire. Motion carried Councilman Holmquist voting "No" <br />
