LIGHTED FOR CHRISTMAS. Chief Lodi stated the City lost about $60 worth of materials3 5 7
<br />last year and sockets were twisted so that only half the lights were lit. It was
<br />suggested that cooperation of school be asked in keeping the tree lit of the City supply
<br />material and ask school to decorate it. Chief Lodi waszto bring back a report.
<br />COUNCILMAN SPILLERS THOUGHT THE COMMITTEE SHOULD BE RENAMED IN REGARDS TO OVERTIME DISCUS-
<br />SION AT THE CAUCUS MEETING EARLIER IN THE EVENING to be recorded in the minutes and
<br />placed on the agenda for report back. Mayor Werder appointed Councilmen Holmquist,
<br />chairman, Britschgi and Spillers to study ways and means of repaying the Police Depart-
<br />metn and other departments their overtime, for report at the next meeting.
<br />CLAIMS Nos. 1769 to 1858 inclusive in the amount of 096,163.37 were approved for payment on
<br />motion of Councilman Granger, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried,,

<br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES AS MAILED. Minutes of the regular meeting of November 21st were ap-
<br />proved on motion of Councilman'Morgan, seconded by Councilman Swift and carried.
<br />PLANNING COMMISSION REPORT ON PETITION FOR AMENDMENT TO ZONING ORDINANCE 600 to rezone
<br />Atherwood from R-4 to C-1 on request of 0. L. Johnson in order to permit construction
<br />of Woodside Road Drive -In Theatre was a tie vote on resolution requesting Council to
<br />deny application. The petition was forwarded without recommendation to the Council
<br />for their decision. Two public hearings were held by the Planning Commission on
<br />October 10th and November 14, 1949, newspaper publication given, public notices posted
<br />and postcards mailed to adjacent property`owners. There were over 100 protestants and

<br />petition filed -of 125 names against the petition. The Planning Commission saw no
<br />urgent need for rezoning and safety, general welfare and public convenience would not
<br />i
<br />be served by the amendment was a part of the resolution on which the vote,was tied.

<br />Coyle, 229 Delaware Avenue, Malcolm J. Taylor, 179 Nimitz Avenue, Archie Klang, 1322
<br />Oxford Street, Herman W. Smith, Jr., 196 Nimitz Avenue, Muriel L. Seibert, 243 Delaware
<br />Avenue, and Mrs. Robert Olding. Both sides were presented to the Council, Mr. Paul
<br />' McCarthy appeared for Mr. Johnson and Mr. t"!m Frank Worthington, Jr. appeared for'the
<br />property'owners. Jack Thomas, John IV. Browning, Mr. Smith, Alexander Avenue, Mr:
<br />Ronald Campbell of the County Planning Commission and others spoke against the rezoning.
<br />On motion of Councilman Morgan, seconded by Councilman Spillers, petition for amend-
<br />ment'was denied. Motion carried unanimously.
