366 <br />CITY MANAGER'�ROLISON STATED IiM. MURPHY WAS ABOUT TO COMMENCE WORK ON HEATHER GARDENS FOR <br />STREETS THERE and that it would be in order for the Council to grant authority for <br />him to sign agreement subject to approval of the City Engineer. City Engineer Jain <br />stated that plans were brought in two days ago with the expectation that the sub- <br />divider would be able to go to work immediately. The Council had approved the map <br />subject to City Engineer's approval about two months ago in his absence. He asked fill <br />asked that maps not be approved in the future without the knowledge of his office <br />as this worked a hardship on them when the map carie in as they were expected to <br />approve a map about which they knew nothing. Councilman Granger moved that City <br />Manager Rolison be authorized to sign agreement subject to approval of the City <br />Engineer, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br />COUNCILMAN GRANGER STATED THE OLD MILL SHOP WISHED TO KNOW WHY THEY DID NOT HAVE PARKING <br />SIGNS UP IN FRONT OF THEIR PLACE. City Engineer Jain informed him the signs were <br />on order. It would take about 30 days for delivery and in the meantime temporary <br />signs were being made. <br />COUNCILMAN GRANGER BROUGHT UP THE SUBJECT OF REVISION OF THE BUILDING CODE ON DEMOLITION <br />OF BUILDINGS IN REGARDS TO REDUCING REMODELING ALLOWED from 203 to 10, of the value. <br />Place on the agenda for City Attorney Curri'e's report on revision. <br />COUNCILMAN GRANGER OBJECTED TO SOUTHER PACIFIC BLOCKING TRAFFIC ON CHESTNUT AND MIDDLE - <br />FIELD ROAD, and spoke of necessity for signals. He also objected to blocking at <br />Second Avenue and asked who was responsible for paving between curb and railroad <br />track at Marshall Street, formerly Liguori. Mr. Jain informed the Council that the 1 <br />Southern Pacific was responsible for paving for 2 feet from most outwardly rail and } <br />that he had been all over the City with a representative from the Southern Pacific <br />Company but they had not lived up to their responsibility and he suggested a strong <br />i <br />letter from the Council on that point. Mr. Dodge and Mr. Rolison were to write with <br />the assistance of Mr. Jain on motion of Councilman Granger, seconded by Councilman <br />Britschgi and carried. Mr. Rolison thought if that did not result in correction they <br />i could appeal to the Public Utility Commission. j <br />COUNCILMAN GRANGER THOUGHT APPLICATION FOR USE PERMIT after being considered by the Board <br />4 <br />of Adjustments should be referred to the Planning Commission as a whole for a vote <br />before a recommendation to the Council instead of the Council receiving a recommen- <br />dation from the Board which consisted of three men, and he suggested the ordinance <br />be changed accordingly. He then moved the subject be referred to the Planning <br />Commission for study, seconded by Councilman Morgan and carried. <br />COUNCILMAN BRITSCHGI REPORTED PROGRESS ON RECREATION CENTER AT REDWOOD VILLAGE. Councilman <br />Holmquist stated the City purchased material, trusses were cut and bolted, use of a <br />travelling crane had been loaned by the City and a City mechanic gave his time in <br />I <br />operating it. <br />i <br />COUNCILMAN SPILLERS REQUEST FOR PERMISSION TO LEAVE THE STATE was granted on motion of <br />Councilman Granger, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried. <br />CLAIMS Nos. 1859 to 1912 inclusive in the amount of 034.,055.27 were approved for payment <br />on motion of Councilman Britschgi and seconded by Councilman Morgan.
