Street, located on Portion of Lots, 1 and 2. Block k$ Range D, Ir2ezesville. He stated371 <br />that the bank he represented had not received•a copy of the notice though one had been <br />sent to the tenants. Councilman Granger moved that this be duly and regularly contin- <br />ued until the first meeting in February and in the meantime Mr. Wagstaff would take <br />steps to have tenants vacate, seconded by Councilman Morgan and carried. <br />LEASE ON AMERICAN LEGION BUILDING. City Attorney Currie stated there was a 90 day cancel- <br />lation clause in the lease, under which they can return controlling interest on lease <br />C to the City on request. However, no such request had been made by the Legion. Coun- <br />cilman Granger moved this be dropped from the agenda, seconded by Councilman.Morgan <br />and carried. "^ <br />AMENDMENT TO.BUILDING CODE. Present percentage on repair for remodeling old building was <br />251 of,the actual value. The Council had the right to set the percentage on this and <br />it was suggested by the Building Inspector it be 250 of assessed value. Mayor Werder <br />appointed a committee of Mr. Currie, Cuilding Inspector Duncan and Councilman Morgan <br />to bring back a report on this. <br />PROGRESS, OF STREET WORK ON JEFFERSON AVENUE. Douglass & Woodhouse asked for an extension <br />of two weeks time to complete the job because of delay caused by necessary changes in <br />the water lines and more recently operations had to cease due to weather conditions. <br />City Engineer Jain approved granting of two weeks time; bad weather fell on calendar <br />days causing the delay. Councilman Swift moved that extension of two weeks time be <br />granted, seconded by Councilman Morgan and carried. <br />AWARD OF GASOLING BID. Low bid w4s submitted by General Petroleum Corporation as follows: <br />Regular .1735 and Ethyl .1935. Standard Oil Company was one mil higher at .1745 and <br />.lgk5. The other bids were identical at .1760 -and .196o. City Manager Rolison recom- <br />mended that the firm bid of General Petroleum be accepted. Councilman Morgan so moved, <br />seconded by Councilman Swift and carried. <br />ACCEPTANCE OF BID ON BOOKKEEPING MACHINE. DR. A. T. HAERM-1 bid 0150 on used Sundstrnad <br />Bookkeeping Machine, Model 8142-P, Serial 378856, equipped with 13" tabulating car- <br />riage and calendar feature. Councilman Holmquist moved that the bid be accepted, <br />seconded by Councilman Morgan and carried. <br />AWARD OF BIDS ON CARS AND TRUCKS. City Manager Rolison asked that report on opening of <br />bids be deferred until the next meeting. as all of the bids were not tabulated. Coun- <br />cilman Morgan moved approval, placing this on the agenda, seconded by Councilman <br />Swift and carried. �• <br />MR. MAGEE, CHAIRMAN OF PENINSULA PROTECTIVE ASSOCIATION AND NIR. MCCARTHY APPEARED at this <br />j time in regard to Redwood City joining with the other cities on the Peninsula to <br />oppose the raise in rates by the Southern Pacific Company. Mr. Me Carthy read a two <br />page letter in regard to this setting forth an appeal for ,the City to appropriate <br />$500 toward this end provided the other cities on -the Peninsula contributed a like <br />sum. It was the City Attorney's opinion that an appropriation could be'made provided <br />the other cities contributed their share. Councilman Morgan moved that the appropria- <br />tion not to exceed 0500 be made providing $2000 was the overall contribution of the <br />Peninsula cities, seconded by Councilman Holmquist and carried. <br />CITY ENGINEER JAIN THOUGHT THE PARAFFINE COMPANIES, INC., HARBOR BOULEVARD should be urged <br />to get off the County Sewer Line and connect in to the new Bayshore Interceptor Line <br />as soon as possible, City to give them easement crossing Harbor Boulevard and record <br />description of it. Councilman Holmquist moved that they be so notified and requested <br />
