Councilman Holmquist moved approval of report <br />accepting recommendations of committee, seconded by Councilman Morgan and carried. <br />AWARD OF -BIDS ON MISCELLANEOUS EQUIPMENT AT CORPORATION YARD. Bids on 8 items were opened <br />on December 23, 1949, Only two items which were bid on were high enough to meet the <br />Charter requirements of 900 of the appraised value per Section No. 3, (18). City <br />Manager Rolison submitted the following on recommendation of Fire Chief Lodi that they <br />be accepted. H. F. Forster of Mars Metal Company, San Francisco, bid on 1000 lbs, <br />burned copper wire scrap @ 12/ and 4.30 lbs. lead cable scrap Cc 10�. At the last Council meeting, <br />December 19th rezoning of Block 5, Friendly acres was approved changing R-4. to R-2. <br />This was an error in printing of the plan. Councilman Holmquist moved introduction <br />of the amendment to Zoning Ordinance, seconded by Councilman Morgan and carried. <br />RESOLUTION OF PRELIMINARY DETERMINATION, LAUREL STREET IMPROVEMENTS. Councilman Granger <br />offered resolution of preliminary determination, seconded by Councilman Britschgi <br />and carried on roll call. Councilman Spillers noted absent. <br />RES OLUTIO N No. 816. <br />RESOLUTION OF PRELIMINARY DETERMINATION <br />LAUREL STREET <br />RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Redwood City, that it does hereby <br />preliminarily determine that the public convenience and necessity require, and that <br />it intends to order, the following work to be done and improvements to be made in and <br />for said City, to wit: <br />The improvement of Laurel Street by constructing and installing therein two inch <br />(2") asphaltic concrete paving with six inch (611) crusher rock run base thirty-one <br />feet (31') in width, concrete curbs and gutters on both sides thereof, and concrete <br />curbs and gutters on both sides thereof, and concrete sidewalks on both sides thereof <br />from the intersection of Laurel Street with Middlefield Road to the intersection of <br />Laurel Street with Stambaugh Street; the removal of existing concrete curbs, gutters, <br />trees and sidewalks as necessary to do the aforementioned work; the installation of <br />two (2) reinforced concrete catch basins on Laurel Street near the southerly inter- <br />section of Laurel Street with Stambaugh Street and the installation of one (1) <br />reinforced concrete catch basin on Laurel Street near the northerly intersection of <br />Stambaugh and Laurel Streets, all said catch basins connected by eighteen inch (18") <br />reinforced concrete pipe storm water siphons; the installation of redwood headers <br />at the intersection of Laurel and Stambaugh Streets; the construction of concrete <br />driveway approaches to serve existing buildings and residences on Laurel Street <br />between Stambaugh Street and Middlefield Road; the removal and re -construction of <br />existing four inch (4.11) sanitary sewer laterals serving lots fronting on Laurel <br />Street between Ioiiddlefield Road and Stambaugh Street as necessary to bring said <br />laterals to proper grade; the construction and installation of all other necessary <br />appurtenances to complete the work hereinbefore described. <br />d <br />
