<br />The letter was to advise that in the absence of instructions to the contrary from,
<br />either the Personnel Board or the City Council, the above practice would be continued.
<br />Councilman Granger moved this be referred to the Personnel Board for study to find if
<br />this was the general practice throughout the County, seconded by Councilman Holmquist
<br />and carried.
<br />PARK AND RECREATION COTWISSION LETTER SIGNED BY RALPH CASE, chairman, requested the Council
<br />to instruct the Engineering Department to proceed in the construction of the pathway
<br />at Community Park. Monies had been allocated and they would like to have it completed
<br />prior to the opening of the Baseball season, Councilman Spillers asked if the City
<br />could not do this instead of contractor. City Engineer Jain explained that the con-
<br />tractor could do a faster and better job as they had equipment. Councilman Britschgi
<br />moved this. be referred to the Engineering Department for.s. report back at the next;
<br />meeting, seconded by Councilman Morgan and carried.
<br />KENSINGTON SQUARE, RIGHT OF WAY ACQUISITION. City Engineer Jain recommended that the City
<br />Cherk be authorized to accept Parcel No. 60-A, Julia B. Chispellone, Lot 1.-B, Block 8,
<br />at $90.00 estimated cost. Councilman Holmquist moved that City Clerk Dodge be author-
<br />ized to accept easement, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried.
<br />CORRECTIONS 1949-50 TAX ROLL. City Assessor Brophy requested permission to make two
<br />corrections, a clerical error of $23.32 and a duplicate assessment of $8k-70- Council-
<br />man I4iorgan moved approval of corrections, seconded by Councilman Swift, and carried.

<br />TAFT IMPROVEMENT CLUB, TAFT SCHOOL, IN A LETTER SIGNED BY MRS. L. E. ENGLEMENA, Secretary
<br />called attention of the Council to the absence of numerous Street signs in their area,
<br />and expressed concern over the irregularity of house numbering throughout theirterri-
<br />tory. They asked that a survey be made and the discrepancies be corrected. Council-
<br />man Holmquist moved that proper authorities look into the situation; meet with some
<br />of the people and that the letter be answered, and report be brought back to the
<br />Council, seconded by Councilman Morgan. Councilman Britschgi did not think this expense
<br />should come out of bond money as they were not in the City at the time of the bond
<br />issue. City Engineer Jain stated they had ordered 350 signs in addition to the 50
<br />installed on E1 Camino Real. Only major streets for the convenience of the Police and
<br />C Fire Departments would be named using signs in this area, otherwise curbs would be
<br />painted as they would be torn up when the streets were installed. At this time it was
<br />not known where the money would come from. Motion carried.
<br />CLAIM OF X14.50 for alleged damage to car. In the 800 Block on Brewster Avenue by a tree
<br />overhanging the street was made by Mrs. A. Newcomb, 6i4 E. Poplar, San Mateo. The
<br />e
<br />accident was on January 25, 1950 and reported to the Police Department last week.
