GURLEY, President of Fat Boy Barbecue Cabins, Ltd., Monadnock Building, San
Francisco, requested permission for one additional driveway on its property located
at 1703 El Camino Real, presently doing business under the name of King's Drive -In.
He asked that it be 26 feet in width and centered approximately between the two exist-
ing driveways on E1 Camino. He claimed the driveway to the north was of little use to
them and thought this would facilitate movement of traffic in and out of the premises.
City Engineer Jain stated that before Christmas this request had been informally denied
as there were two driveways there. The Traffic Fact Finding Committee agreed that a
permit should not be granted as cars would back out into main traffic if the driveway
was permitted. Councilman Britschgi moved that Mr. Gurley meet with the Traffic Fact
Finding Committee and proper authorities and go over the request, map out the thing
and find out what he wanted and what would be allowed by law, seconded by Councilman
Spillers. Mr. Gurley was invited to attend the Traffic Fact Finding Committe meeting
Friday A. M. at 9 o'clock. Motion carried.
STREET IMPROMIEIITS - ST. FRANCIS STREET, HARDING AVENUE and SAPPHIRE STREET. City Engineer
Jain informed the Council in a letter that petitions were being circulated for these
improvements including Ruby -Street, might also include Topaz Street and all in the area
known as Jefferson Avenue Addition north of Jefferson Avenue and east of Alameda de las
Pulgas. Harding Avenue was not now dedicated through to the City Limits line between
Upton Street and Topaz Street. In order to properly complete these improvements it
-should be extended which would require the acquisition of Lots 5 and 6. Block 1 and
Lots 5 and 6, Block 4., Jefferson Avenue Addition. Lot 5, Block 1, was County owned
as a tax deeded lot. Mr. Jain recommended that this be done before the Resolution
of Intention to improve the balance of the area and that immediate action be taken.
Councilman Granger moved that proper authorities take necessary steps to acquire the
property, seconded by CouncilmanVorgan, and carried.
ABATEMENT 804 WALNUT STREET. This dwelling belonged to Jack Genochio, 4.0 Birch Street and
was located on Lot 14., Block 17, Sweeney Addition, was inspected by the Building, Fire,
Healthe, and Sanitation Departments and it was their recommendation that the building
be demolished and the lot cleared because of unfitness for human habitation, was
beyond repair and a fire hazard. Councilman Spiller moved that abatement proceedings
be started, secondetl by Councilman Morgan, and carried.
MURPHY TRACT FLOOD CONDITION. The Planning Commission felt something should be done to
give relief to this condition but it was beyond the scope of the Commission and they
referred the problem of drainage to the City Council along with data showing con-
ditions in the area. This was discussed at considerable length. A ditch had been
dug to give some temporary relief but it did not remedy the condition. A total of
four homes were affected. Water came from the County area; City Engineer Jain had
contacted County Engineer Capt. Grant but they did not feel it was theri responsibility
Mr. Leslie Herman, 703 Oak Ridge Drive, appeared and objected to suggested assessment
of this district; he did not think it would meet the problem as they would still get
the water from the County area and he thought the City should help the residents to
,get the County to_aet. Councilman Granger wished to know if they would grant a right
of way to develop storm sewer providing the County would be agreeable to accepting
their responsibility in the matter. Mr. Herman stated there was an easement at the
C
'I
[I
