396 publ <br />printed and circulated in the City of Rec3W0,0d City; and <br />WHEREAS, in and by said Resolution of Intention No. 819 and the notices of the <br />passage thereof posted, published and mailed as aforesaid, said Council of the City <br />of Redwood City fixed Monday, February 62 1950, at the hour of 8:00 P.M. of said <br />day, at the Council Chamber of the Council of the City of Redwood City, in the City <br />Hall on Middlefield Road in said City, as the day, hour and place when and where <br />any and all persona having any objections to the proposed work and improvements <br />described -in said Resolution of Intention No. 819, or to the grades at which said <br />work and improvements are to be done and made, or to the district to be assessed <br />for said work and improvements, could appear before said Council and show cause <br />why said proposed work and improvements should not be carried out and done in <br />accordance with said Resolution of Intention No. 819, or why said work and improve- <br />ments should not be carried out and done at the grades as shown on the plans, pro- <br />files and detailed drawings referred to in said Resolution of Intention No. 819 and <br />now on file in the office of the Clerk of the City of Redwood City; and <br />WHEREAS, at the day, hour and place last above mentioned, all objections, oral <br />and written, to said work and improvements described in said Resolution of Intention <br />No. 819, or to the extent of the district to be assessed therefor, were duly consid- <br />ered by.said Council; and <br />WHEREAS all said objections were overruled and denied by said Council; and <br />WHEREAS said Council did determine that protests were not made by more than <br />one-half (1/2) of the owners of the property proposed to be assessed for said work <br />and improvements; and <br />WHEREAS said Council has acquired jurisdiction to order said work and improve- <br />ments; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Redwood City <br />that..the public convenience and necessity require,,and said Council,hereby orders, <br />all the work and improvements, hereinafter described, to be performed. <br />Said work and improvements are described as follows: <br />The improvement of Laurel Street by constructing and installing therein <br />two inch (2') asphaltic concrete paving with six inch (611) crusher rock run <br />base thirty-one feet (311) in width, concrete curbs and gutters on both sides <br />thereof, and concrete sidewalks on both sides thereof from the intersection <br />of Laurel Street with Middlefield Road to the intersection of Laurel Street <br />with Stambaugh Street; the removal of existing concrete curbs, gutters, trees <br />and sidewalks as necessary to do the aforementioned work; the installation <br />of two (2) reinforced concrete catch basins on Laurel Street near the south- <br />erly intersection of Laurel Street with Stambaugh Street and the installation <br />of one (1) reinforced concrete catch basin on Laurel Street near the northerly <br />intersection of Stambaugh and Laurel Streets, all said catch basins connected <br />by eighteen inch (18") reinforced concrete pipe storm water.siphons; the in- <br />stallation of redwood headers at the intersection of Laurel and Stambaugh <br />Streets; the construction of concrete driveway approaches to serve existing <br />buildings and residences on Laurel Street between Stambaugh Street and <br />Middlefield Road; the removal and re -construction of existing four inch (4") <br />sanitary sewer laterals serving lots fronting on Laurel Street between <br />Middlefield Road and Stambaugh Street as necessary to bring said laterals to <br />proper grade; the construction and installation of all other necessary <br />appurtenances to complete the work hereinbefore described. <br />For further particulars as to the work and improvements herein ordered to be done <br />and for a description of the area proposed to be assessed for said work and im- <br />provements, reference is hereby made to Resolution of Intention No. 819 of said <br />Council, passed and adopted on January 16, 1950. <br />FURTHER RESOLVED, that the work and improvements hereinabove described shall <br />be done under the direction of the City Engineer of said City of Redwood City, and <br />that materials used therein shall comply with the specifications heretofore adopted; <br />and that the assessments to be made in said proceedings shall be made and signed <br />by said City Engineer. <br />, The Clerk of the City of Redwood City is hereby ordered and directed to post <br />a notice conspicuously for five (5) days on or near the Council Chamber door of <br />the Council of said City of Redwood City, inviting sealed proposals or bids for <br />doing the work and making the improvements ordered herein. Said City Clerkis <br />also ordered and directed to publish a notice inviting said sealed proposals or <br />bids for the period required by law in the Redwood City Tribune, a daily (except <br />Sunday) newspaper of general circulation, published, printed and circulated in the <br />City of Redwood City, and hereby designated for that purpose by the Council of said <br />City. Said notice shall refer to the plans, profiles, detailed drawings and <br />specifications on file in the office of the City Clerk for a detailed description <br />of the work to be done. <br />IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that said sealed proposals or bids be publicly opened, <br />examined and declared by the Council of said City of Redwood City, at or about the <br />hour of 8:00 o'clock P.1,1. on March 6, 1950, and all bids must be filed with the <br />Clerk of the Council of the City of Redwood City on or before such date and hour. <br />Passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Redwood City at a regular <br />meeting thereof, held on the 6th day of February, 1950, by the following vote: <br />AYES, and in favor of the passage and adoption of the foregoing resolution, <br />Councilmen: BRITSCHGI, GRANGER, HOLMQUIST, MORGAN, SPILLERS, SWIFT, AND WERDER. <br />NOES, Councilmen: NONE <br />1 <br />
