M. <br />ROLL CALL WAS DISPENSED WITH, however, the following were noted present: Councilmen <br />Floyd D. Granger, H. E. Holmquist, Robert V. Spillers, Mayor W. M. Werder and City <br />Clerk Ralph S. Dodge. Councilmen Carl Britschgi, Albert H. Morgan, Jr., and <br />Arthur V. Swift were noted absent. Also present were: City Manager E. A. Rolison, <br />City Attorney Cuthbert B. Currie, City Engineer Glenn M. Jain, Police Chief C. L. <br />Collins, Assistant Engineer, K. L. Winter. <br />a <br />MAYOR WERDER ANNOUNCED THAT THE MAIN PURPOSE OF THE MEETING WAS TO OPEN BIDS ON JOHNSON <br />STREET IMPROVEMENTS. City -Clerk proceeded to open two bids, that of Douglas & <br />Woodhouse, totaling ;11,792.10, and of Peter Sorensen, totaling $14,536.64. City <br />Engineer Jain was directed to check the bids and report back to the Council as soon <br />A <br />as possible. <br />COMMUNICATION FROM CITY MANAGER ROLISON REGARDING A REQUEST OF MR. P. SORENSEN for a 90 <br />day extension on his contract for the installation of interceptor sewers, original <br />six month's construction period having expired on October 3, 1949. Mr. Rolison <br />explained that only approximately 50% of the total work had been completed during <br />the total construction period originally allocated and recommended that a 90 day <br />extension be granted with the understanding that Mr. Sorensen would make every <br />q -Jo <br />effort to complete the contract within 90 day extension period, or not later than <br />January 3, 1949- Councilman Holmquist moved, seconded by Councilman Spillers, that <br />the 90 day extension be granted subject to the terms as recommended by City Mana- <br />ger Rolison. Motion carried. <br />COMMUNICATION FROM COUNTY TAX COLLECTOR MacARTHUR ADDRESSED TO CITY TAX COLLECTOR PERRIN, <br />requested information as to the amount necessary to bring Lots 15, 16, 17, 18 and <br />19, Block 2, Resubd. Lot 46 Reese Tract up for public auction sale. Councilman <br />Holmquist stated that the Real Estate Committee had looked over the lots and was of <br />the opinion that the price of $300 each would be a fair amount to set on these lots. <br />On motion of Councilman Granger, seconded by Councilman Spillers, City Collector <br />was authorized to offer these lots to Mr. MacArthur as the recommendation specified. <br />Motion carried. <br />REQUEST FROM C. T. RIEGER FOR PER14ISSION TO OPERATE TWO OR MORE TRUCKS FOR THE SINGLE <br />LICENSE FEE OF $100 per quarter in the business of peddling ice cream throughout <br />Redwood City was referted to the City Attorney with the understanding that if <br />approved by him City -Collector Perrin was authorized to grant the permit on motion <br />of Councilman Spillers, seconded by Councilman Granger, and carried.r <br />CITY CLERK RALPSH S. DODGE r6ad amounts due Fred J. Early for the September progress <br />statement amounting to $27,611.58 which had been approved by the proper department <br />heads for psyment. Councilman Holmquist moved, seconded by Councilman Spillers, <br />that authority be"gra.nted to pay the claim subject to the approval of City Attorney <br />Currie.
