11
H. H. RALSTIN, WHO HAD APPLIED FOR A USED CAR PERMIT for the Northwesterly corner of 45
Oai ood Drive and E1 Camino Real withdrew application and requested the Council the
refund of $350 of the $4.00 deposit. Inspection had been made in the meantime by the
Police and Fire Department. Councilman Morgan moved request be granted, the City to
keep $50, seconded by Councilman Spillers, and carried.
A LETTER WAS READ FROM THE RIGHT OF WAY AGENT, Division of Highways, requesting that in
order to proceed with installation of traffic signals at the corner of Main Street
and Bayshore Highway and for future requirements for proposed freeway, that the State
file a Condemnation Resolution on the subject property as suggested by our City
Attorney, and asked for a letter of authorization from the City to proceed with the
described work in the immediate future. City Manager Rolison stated this reference
was to a small triangular piece of property. City Collector Perrin advised the prop-
erty was 201 x 70' or EO' in length. It was brought out that it would take some
time to condemn the property. Councilman Granger moved that the proper authorities,
or City Manager, be authorized to sign statement authorizing the State to proceed
with the installation of signals, seconded by Councilman Morgan. Motion carried.
CREEK COMMITTE. Councilman Holmquist reported progress. Placed on agenda.
MR. Wm.- H. SADLER APPEARED IN REGARDS TO ABATEMENT OF HENRY BEEGER TANNERY AT LATHROP AND
ELM STREETS. City Manager Rolison reported that action had been taken in response
i
to his letter and the Building, Fire and Health Departments had made a joint inspec-
tion. This was considered a serious fir hazard, the building should be demolished
and the hay removed. Building Inspector Duncan stated he had contacted Mr. Beeger
and he had no objection to whatever the Council deemed should be done and stated he
would be glad to get the hay removed, which was stored for someone. Councilman
I
Spillers moved that the buildings be posted, seconded by Councilman Morgan. After
the buildings come down, if the hay has not been removed, this will be taken up later.
Motion carried.PETER VALENTI APPEARED FOR HIS SON IN REGARDS TO SEWER CONNECTION,
on the County side facing Eaton between Frances Land & Clifford Avenue. Annexation
was discussed as he was outside of the City, and the City had adopted a policy not
to allow more sewer connections with residents outside the City limits. Due'to lack
of space and slope of porperty septic tank could not be use. Councilman Granger
moved that this be referred to City Attorney Currie in regards to crossing County
road in annexation proceedings. Mr. Valenti presented a sketch at the last meeting
which was submitted to the Council. Sewer connection outside of the City were die -
1 cussed, and while there were several outside areas connected into City sewers, the
Council had adopted a policy to discontinue this practice. City Attorney Currie
stated that under the 1947°Act annexation could cross.County roads, to contiguous
property. City Manager Rolison thought it better for the City to connect the sewer
but not to annex property as the City assumed certain responsibilities after that.
Mayor Werder stated they had made other exception on occasion to policies established.
Councilman Granger's first motion was lost for, lack of a second, and he now moved
Mr. Valenti be permitted to connect with the City sewer and that a proper letter be
drafted by City Attorney Currie in vihich applicant would agree not to oppose future
annexation, copy of which was to be kept for further reference, all costs to be
borne by the owner of the porperty, seconded by Councilman Spillers. Motion carried.
ANNIE OFFERMANN APPEARED IN REGARDS TO REMOVAL OF 14ANHOLE FRO14 JEFFERSON STREET PROPERTY
