it <br />S, <br />RESOLUTION No. 847-A 455 <br />i' <br />RESOLUTION ORDERING IMPROVEMENTS AND CALLING FOR BIDS <br />ALAMEDA DEL LAS PULGAS AND HOPKINS AVENUE <br />WHEREAS the Council of the City of Redwood City did, on March 6, 1950, pass and <br />adopt Resolution of Intention No. 84 to order the hereinafter described work to be <br />done and improvements to be made in said City of Redwood City; and <br />WHEREAS notices of the passage of said Resolution of Intention No. 842, headed ' <br />"NOTICE OF IMPROVEMENT", were duly and regularly posted along the line of said contem- <br />plated work and improvements and in front of all the property liable to be assessed <br />therefor, and on all of the streets in the district to be assessed therefor, in the <br />time, form, manner and number as required by law, as appears from the affidavits of <br />Glenn M. Jain, Superintendent of Streets of the City of Redwood City, on file in the <br />office of the Clerk of said City; and <br />WHEREAS it appears from the affidavit of R. S. Dodge, City Clerk of the City of <br />Redwood City, that notices of the adoption of the said resolution were mailed to all <br />persons owning real property proposed to be assessed for said improvements, in the <br />time, form, and manner as required by law, which affidavit is on file with the Clerk <br />of said City of Redwood City; and <br />WHEREAS it appears from the affidavit of Monadene Holt that said Resolution of <br />Intention was duly and regularly published in the Redwood City Tribune, a newspaper <br />published, printed and circulated in the City of Redwood City; and <br />WHEREAS, in and by said Resolution of Intention No. 842 and the notices of the <br />passage thereof posted, published and mailed as aforesaid, said Council of the City <br />of Redwood City fixed Monday, April 3, 1950, at the hour of 8:00 P. M. of said day, <br />at the Council Chamber of the Council of the City of Redwood City, in the City Hall <br />on Middlefield Road in said City, as the day, hour and place when and where any and all <br />persons having any objections to the proposed work and improvements described in said <br />Resolution of Intention No. 842, or to the grades at which said work and improvements <br />are to be done and made, or to the district to be assessed for said work and improve- <br />ments, could appear before said Council and show cause why said proposed work and <br />improvements should not be carried out and done in accordance with said Resolution of <br />Intention No. 842, or why said work and improvements should not be carried out and <br />done at the grades as shown on the plans, profiles and detailed drawings referred to <br />in said Resolution of Intention No. 842 and now on file in the office of the Clerk <br />of the City of Redwood City; and <br />WHEREAS, at the day, hour and place last above mentioned, all objections, oral <br />and written, to said work and improvements described in said Resolution of Intention <br />No. 842, or to the extent of the district to be assessed therefor, were duly consid- <br />ered by said Council; and <br />WHEREAS all said objections were overruled and denied by said Council; and <br />WHEREAS said Council did determine that protests were not made by more than one-half <br />(1/2) of the owners of the property proposed to be assessed for said work and improve- <br />ments; and <br />WHEREAS said Council has acquired jurisdiction to order said work and improve- <br />ments; <br />NOVI, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Redwood City <br />that the public convenience and necessity require, and said Council hereby orders, <br />all the work and improvements, hereinafter described, to be performed. <br />Said work and improvements are described as follows: <br />(a) The improvement of Alameda de las Pulgas by constructing and <br />installing thereon four inch (4") concrete sidewalks, five feet <br />(5') in width, on the easterly side thereof from the intersection <br />of Alameda de las Pulgas with Whipple Avenue to the southerly line <br />of Lot eleven (11), Block seven (7) Oak Knoll Manor, and on the <br />westerly side thereof, from the intersection of Alameda de las <br />Pulgas with Whipple Avenue to the intersection of Alameda de las <br />Pulgas with Hopkins Avenue; by constructing and installing therein <br />on both sides thereof from the intersection of Alameda de las <br />Pulgas with Whipple Avenue to the intersection of Alameda de las <br />Pulgas with Hopkins Avenue of concrete driveway approaches to serve <br />existing houses and residences; provided, however, that no sidewalks <br />or driveways shall be constructed or installed where existing side- <br />walks and driveways meet the established line and grade. <br />(b) The improvement of the northerly side of Hopkins Avenue by <br />constructing and installing thereon four inch (4') concrete side- <br />walks, five feet (51) in width, including concrete driveway <br />approaches to serve existing houses and residences from the <br />intersection of Hopkins Avenue with Alameda de las Pulgas to the <br />intersection of Hopkins Avenue with Circle Road; provided, how- <br />ever, that no sidewalks or driveway approaches shall be installed <br />where existing sidewalks and driveways meet the established line <br />and grade. <br />(c) The construction and installation of all necessary appurten- <br />ances to complete the work described under (a) and (b).hereof. <br />For further particulars as to the work and improvements herein ordered to be done and <br />for a description of the area proposed to be assessed for said work and improvements, <br />
