Councilman
Spillers moved approval of Planning Commission action, seconded by Councilman Holmquist
and carried.
PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDED SIMON PETERS RESUBDIVISION Lot 1, Block 4. New High School
Acres into two lots as indicated on the attached plan. Councilman Morgan moved
approval of recommendation, seconded by Councilman Werder and carried.
TRAFFIC FACT FINDING COMMITTEE RECOMMENDED 20 foot bus stop on Northwest side of E1 Camino
Real in front of Central Cafe be zoned in red to prevent parking of motor vehicles.
It was suggested that red zone of 20 feet on Roosevelt be painted for the same pur-
pose. Councilman Holmquist thought this recommendation would help neither the
pedestrian nor the motorist coming onto the highway." Administrative Assistant Miller
stated a traffic count had been taken and could be submitted to the State and there
was some objection to a 3 -way signal as this was not a 4 -way intersection. It was
thought study should be given the other corner. The bus stop was established, but
the curb had never been painted. Councilman Werder asked that further consideration
be given to this as Roosevelt Avenue was too important to start sending traffic down
Adams Street and he so moved including further study of this by the Traffic Fact
Finding Committee, seconded by Councilman Royer. Motion carried. City Attorney
Currie stated that all ordinances dealing with State Highways must be forwarded to
the State Highway Department for approval prior to adoption.
PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDED AMENDING SECTION 4.2 of Ordinance 600 (Zoning) establishing
building lines on Valota Road from Woodside Road to Jefferson Avenue as indicated on
the map on file in City Engineer Jain's office. Public hearings were held and there
a
were no protests. If building lines were established this would insure future right-
of-way of street for widening and realignment. Councilman Morgan introduced ordi-
nance, seconded by Councilman Royer, and carried.
CONSIDERATION OF TENTATIVE MAPS REDWOOD TERRACE No. 3 and No. 4. City Engineer Jain stated
a letter should have been received from the Planning Commission on this. It was placed
on the agenda pending a letter from the Planning Commission.
BROADWAY No. 3, RIGHT-OF-WAY ACQUISITION. City Engineer Jain submitted appraisal report
made by Norwood B. Smith to cover appraisal of Broadway No. 3 properties required
for Marshall Street extension and widening and Broadway extension into the Redwood
Industrial Tract. It was suggested that the appraisal report be reviewed by the City
Manager, Mr. Smith and the City Engineer before approval of negotiations for the
property. It was recommended that City Manager Rolison be authorized to engage a
right-of-way agent to negotiate for these properties and to authorize the City
Attorney to start condemnation proceedings for parcels that could not be acquired by
negotiation. It was further recommended that City Attorney Currie be authorized to
file a writ of possession so that Broadway No. 3 improvement District could be formed
immediately. Frost and Brian, Consulting Engineers had almost completed plans, some
were being checked in the City Engineer's office. City Iti4anager Rolison suggested
holding the matter up until further appraisals could be secured. Councilman Holmquist
moved approval of recommendations, seconded by Councilman Werder, and carried.
RESOLUTION No. 860. ANNEXATION TO CITY OF RICHARD KORAL PROPERTY, 644.
