Councilman Spillers moved that City <br />Attorney Currie be authorized -to proceed along suggested line, seconded by Council- <br />man Holmquist, and carried. <br />MR. E. B. GRIFFITH, 2800 Devonshire, San Carlos appeared in regards to•placing benches at <br />Bus Stops. Another 'applicant to set up benches had previously been referred to the <br />Chamber of Commerce for their opinion and the idea had been rejected by them. After <br />.15s <br />discussion it was thought that both Mr. Griffith and the other gentleman interested <br />in setting up these benches should present their objective in full for reconsideration <br />by the Chamber of Commerce. Councilman Spillers moved that City Clerk Dodge contact <br />the other gentleman with this information, Council to consider and pass recommendations <br />on to the,Chamber of Commerce, seconded by Councilman Britschgi. Motion carried. ' <br />GEO. KIRCHNER, 323 Woodside Road, appeared again regarding the request of license to <br />Auction Saddle Horses. Mr. Kirchner stated he was unable to build corrals, but had l <br />r <br />made sure that if he was allowed to hold auctions that all stock and debris would be; <br />removed the day of the sale, and suggested that the Council grant him a permit to hold <br />two sales before January lst and that if he did cromply•after the first one, the Council <br />could cancel the permit to hold the second sale. Councilman Holmquist was in favor <br />of giving Mr. Kirchner, who resided here, an opportunity to auction the saddle horses, <br />and moved that he be granted a permit for two sales between now and the first of the <br />year. Mr. Van Buren appeared and stated that he was a member of the Horseman's <br />Association and various other organizations interested in horses and stated he had a <br />State Commission License to auction; that 129 only were issued in the State, and if <br />Mr. Kirchner did not have a license he would be bringing in an outside to auction. <br />Mr. Kirchner stated that in an effort to get started he would be willing to put up <br />a bond in order to work legitimately.' Mr. Van Buren insisted Mr. Kirchner would not <br />be qualified to sell live stock of any kind without a State License. Mayor Werder <br />stated that the City required a business license only and suggested that City Attorney <br />Currie correct hi6 statement if this was wrong. City Attorney Currie concurred. <br />Motion carried, Councilman Morgan voting "Nay". <br />VALETA ROAD SEWERS, FURTHER PUBLIC HEARING. Mrs: Coats protest on assessment of $308.20 <br />was reduced to $190.68 making a reduction of 0117.62. Under discussion of whether <br />this should be spread over the entire area or take Council action to absorb this <br />reduction and. complete assessment, it was decided that the better action would be <br />for the City, to absorb the difference as the difference would be offset in advertis- <br />ing; etc., and'was so moved by Councilman Holmquist, seconded by Councilman Morgan. <br />With the consent of the maker of the motion the assessment was to be amended to read <br />$19o.69 and the City to absorb the difference, seconded by Councilman Morgan. <br />Motion carried. <br />RESOLUTION No. 625. CONFIRMING ASSESSI4ENTS AND ASSESSMENT DIAGRAM. Councilman Swift <br />offered and moved adoption of resolution, seconded by Councilman Holmquist, and <br />carried on roll call. <br />RESOLUTION No. 626. Councilman Granger introduced and moved adoption of resolution <br />transferring ?117.62 from Unbudgeted Reserve, seconded by Councilman Morgan, and <br />carried on roll call'. <br />APPOINTMENT OF M?341BER TO PERSONNEL BOARD.
