the nuisance, seconded by Councilman Morgan, and carried. 57 <br />ORDINANCE No. 600-1 Amending Ordinance No.600 to rezone Lots 19 and 20, Block 36, Central <br />Park No.2, from an R-1 District to an R-2 District and,directing that the map be <br />changed in accordance therewith. Councilman Holmquist moved that an affidavit of <br />publication be filed, seconded by Councilman Spillers, and carried. <br />ADOPTION OF ORDINA14CE No.600-1. Councilman Britschgi moved adoption of ordinance, seconded <br />by Councilman.Swift, and carried on roll call. <br />SIDEWALK, PERRY PARKING LOT. Mr. Treichel, owner of the laundry, intended to put in a <br />sidewalk adjacent.to parking lot on approval of the Council. City Attorney Currie <br />stated there seemed to be some misunderstanding and Mr. Treichel intended toopen <br />the <br />building with <br />a door and the <br />City Engineer wished <br />to have the <br />Council's approval <br />if <br />this was done. <br />The question <br />of violating building <br />regulations <br />was raised. Coun- <br />oilman Spillers moved that a permit be granted to put in an entrance, seconded by <br />Councilman Britschgi, and later withdrew the motion with the consent of the second. <br />Councilman Granger moved that entrance be allowed for warehouse purposes.Qnly and <br />later withdrew the motion. City Engineer Jain was of the opinion that it had been <br />suggested this be included in the contract if the door was permitted. Building <br />. Inspector Duncan thought the door would not be allowed under the building regulation's <br />if the building came up to the City line, which it did. Mayor Werder suggested that <br />Building Inspector Duncan and City Attorney Currie check on this and report. Coun- <br />. oilman Swift so moved, seconded by Councilman Morgan, and carried. <br />PERRY PARKING LOT. City Attorney Currie stated that an additional $1100 had been collec- <br />ted and turned over to the City. Mayor Werder complimented Chairman Britschgi on <br />his fine job. <br />COUNCILMAN GRANGER OBJECTED TO THE UNSIGHTLY CONDITION ON BROADWAY AND MAIN STREET and <br />stated it appeared that no attempt had been made to clean this up and suggested that <br />one of the men take a half day Off during the week and work Sunday morning. City <br />City Engineer Jain stated the street was gone over with a power sweeper but the <br />merchants did not sweep their sidewalks, also that the men clean these streets and <br />alternate four hours each Saturday and Sunday. <br />COUNCILMAN GRANGER STATED THE COUNCIL SHOULD HAVE REPORTS FROM=ALL COMMISSIONS, that a <br />member of the Council should try to be present at all commission meetings in order <br />that they might be informed of their activities. Mayor INTerder was of the opinion <br />that some one of the City officials attended these meetings. Minutes were to be <br />mailed to members of the Council. Councilman Granger was interested in having <br />information in fairness to commissions. <br />COUNCILMAN GRANGER INQUIRED ABOUT THE PROGRESS OF THE TRAFFIC AND SAFETY DIVISION. City <br />Manager Rollson explained that the committee acted on minor things and referred other <br />things to the Traffic and Safety Commission and had joint meetings. Studies were <br />being made of cross street stop sign needs, speed limits, etc. Police Sgt. Cole <br />Stafford was compiling information and suggestions to submit to the committee. <br />Councilman Granger thought there should be some decision made on Whipple, Hopkins, <br />Brewster and Jefferson and whether or not the Commission is in favor of making these <br />streets arterials. City Manager Rolison invited members of the Council -to stop in <br />and see studies thn.t were being made and charts set up. <br />COUNCILMAN GRANGER OBJECTED TO THE LIMITED SPACE ALLOTTED TO A14NOUNOEMENTS OF EXAMINATIONS <br />for new employees, and suggested that more space be used to call attention to the ad. <br />
