However, he wished to file protest for the record. City Clerk <br />Dodge was ordered to file communication on motion of Councilman Granger, seconded by <br />Councilman Holmquist. Motion carried. <br />PETITION RECEIVED FROM RESIDENTS OF HAMPTON AVENUE, 600 Block for street lights. Fire <br />Chief Lodi was at present making a survey of this area. Councilman Holmquist moved, <br />seconded by Councilman Morgan that Clerk acknowledge the petition and advise petition - <br />ers they will be notified at a later date. <br />APPLICATION FOR RESTAURANT LICENSE RECEIVED FROM ROBERT W. PETERSON, 2219 Broadway, <br />place of business known as °MIDWAY CREAMERY". Premises were inspected by Health, <br />Building, Fire and Police Departments and approved. Place of <br />business to be called Greyhound Coffee Shop located at 934 Brewster. Premises were <br />inspected by Health, Building, Fire and Police Departments and approved. License <br />authorized on motion of Councilman Britschgi, seconded by Councilman Morgan, and <br />carried. <br />APPLICATION FOR RESTAURANT LICENSE RECEIVED FROM LOUIS TAROLI, SAM TROMBADORI, 2015 E1 <br />Camino Real. Premises were inspected by Health, Building, Fire and Police Depart- <br />ments and approved. License authorized on motion of Councilman Swift, seconded by <br />Councilman Holmquist, and carried. P <br />COM14UNICATION RECEIVED FROM'MR. 0. W. DIEL offering $360, the assessed valuation for <br />Lot 4, Stambaugh Street Addition with the provision that the City deliver a title <br />free and clear of encumbrances. Councilman Holmquist stated that all such trans- <br />actions in his knowledge had not been subject to such a condition. City Attorney <br />Currie advised that the City should not guarantee the title unless a report was <br />received from the title company, the burden of which should be on the purchaser. <br />On motion of Councilman Swift, seconded by Councilman Holmquist, the matter was <br />placed on the agenda for further consideration of the Real Estate Committee. Motion <br />carried. <br />PETITION WAS PRESENTED WITH SOME 67 signatures, customers of Cookies Cafe, requesting <br />that the Council extend time for proprietors to find a new location for their <br />restaurant. City Attorney Currie stated that the owners of the building had prom- <br />ised to start the razing of the building the first of the coming year. On motion <br />of Councilman Britschgi, seconded by Councilman Holmquist, the matter was carried <br />over to the next' meeting for further consideration. Motion carried. <br />CITY ATTORNEY CURRIE ADVISED THAT THE PLANNING COMMISSION HAD CONDUCTED A HEARING on the <br />request of Ray Spangler for a variance to allow the construction of a garage in <br />front of his house, this construction being necessary due to steepness of the lot. <br />He stated further that a letter was pending from the Planning Commission approving <br />this variance and inasmuch as petitioner was anxious to start construction, Coun- <br />cilman Morgan moved, seconded by Councilman Swift, that the request be granted. <br />Motion carried. <br />
