She previously had enjoyed a license in Menlo <br />-Park. Councilman Morgan moved that the permit be denied, seconded by Councilman <br />Granger, and carried. 7-1 <br />CLYDE'L. OLDEN, SUPERINTENDENT OF SEQUOIA UNION HIGH SCHOOL, requested the use of the <br />Council Chambers for the purpose of conducting a Student Body Government meeting <br />once a month for a three-hour period from 9 A.M. to 12 Noon. Councilman Holmquist <br />moved that this group be authorized to use the'Council Chambers, time schedule to <br />be worked out subject to prior use of the Chamber by the City government, and <br />seconded b Councilman Morgan. Councilman Granger moved that the Water Department <br />be instructed to charge one rental as this was for a single family dwelling and <br />the garage was not occupied by another family, seconded by Councilman Holmquist, <br />and carried. City Attorney Currie concurred in this. <br />MISS ANNIE OFFERMANN, 1018 Main Street, protested that a pit on.Jefferson Avenue had not <br />been removed from the sidewalk as promised by the P G & E. She stated she was told <br />by the P G & E that City Engineer Jain had plans or map. City Engineer Jain <br />stated that they had no plans, also, that the parking area should be kept free <br />from gas and water lines. It was the opinion of the Council that this was to have <br />been taken care of to Miss Offermann's satisfaction, that the P G & E had not <br />P <br />followed the ruling and had not been granted a permit to place the pit at this ' <br />point. Councilman Swift moved that the P G & E be notified as to the sentiments <br />of the Council and requested to move the pit to the original location, seconded by <br />Councilman Granger. Motion carried. <br />MISS OFFERMANN ALSO PROTESTED THE SEWER RENTAL FOR UNOCCUPIED HOUSES IN WHICH WATER WAS <br />LEFT ON AS A MEASURE'OF SAFETY, but did not think she should have to pay for sewer <br />rental on these houses. She had brought this to the attention of the Water Depart- <br />ment. Assessor Brophy stated that it would be impossible to keep up with similar <br />situations and there were a great number of them, that it was a question of inter- <br />pretation of where to draw the line. Councilman Morgan moved that this be taken <br />under advisement at a later date, that this situation was a larger problem than <br />at first appeared, and time was needed for further study before taking action, <br />seconded by Councilman Granger. If water meters were removed there would be no <br />sewer rental charge. Motion -carried. Miss Offermann was advised to pay the water <br />and sewer bill until such time as this was brought back before the.Council again. <br />REPORT OF REAL ESTATE COMMITTEE, Councilman Holmquist, chairman, reported on Lot 43 <br />Block 4. Stambaugh Street Addition. C. W...Diel had offered 0360 provided the <br />City deliver a title free and clear of encumbrances. The Committee stood on their <br />former report that the title"clear and free of encumbrances was not guaranteed on <br />sale of any tax delinquent lot. City Attorney Currie stated Mr. Diel requested <br />clear title but did not think he expected the City to pay for this, but that the <br />property would not be encumbered by delinquent taxes. Councilman Holmquist moved <br />that the property be sold to Mr. Diel for $360 with no guarantee to clear title, <br />seconded by Councilman Morgan, and carried. <br />
