Letter from City Manager Rolison outlining his recommend•
ation re meter installation charges in newly subdivided areas.
December C 1951.
"Honorable Mayor and City Cluncil: Re Water Meter Installation Charges:
Gentlemen:
Due totthe difference in the method of financing the installation of
water mains, there has been considerable confusion concerning the proper water meter
installation charge, particularly in some of the newly subdivided areas.
A study has been made of this subject by the City Atty,City En., Water
Supt. amd myself, and it is our recommendation that the usual charge of I30.00,as
prescribed by the Rules and Regulations of the Water Department, should apply to all
5/8 inch metered services except in the following two. instances:
1. Noaharge to be matte where the subdivider has paid the total cost of the
entire water system including services4i and where no refunds are to be made.
2. Due to the terms of the contract entered into between the City and the
subdivider of Woodside Terrace No.l, which stipulates a charge of 015.00 per meter
installation.
It would appear, however, that the exception number one should be changed in
the event that provisions are later made for refunds in an subdivision not heretofore
cohered by a refund agreement. In which event the subdivider should be called upon to
reimburse the City to the extent of the normal service charges.
cc -City Atty. Respectfully submitted,
City Eng. E. S.
