21" THAT THE MATTER OF USING OLD RESIDENCES FOR BUSINESS puR. <br />' COUNCILMAN GRANGER REQUESTED <br />such as the area of Brewster and Arguello <br />POSES WHERE ZONES HAVE BEEN CHANGED,. <br />mmSo moved by Councilman Grangor, <br />t' Streets, be checked into the Planning Coission. <br />seconded by Councilman Morgan and carried. <br />COUNCILMAN GRANGER ASKED FOR REPORT ON STATUS OF MOVING THE SOUTHERN PACIFIC FREIGHT <br />SHED. City Attorney Currie stated some progress had been made, that some time had <br />M1, there were several things s that would <br />been spent with S. P. officials however, S <br />have to be done before any final action could be taken. It would be necessary to <br />„r locate the heirs and find out how much they would demand for the reversionary in. <br />terest in the property. The question of opening Franklin Street and the estab. <br />lishment of a parking lot in Butcher Field was discussed and the thought was that <br />this would have a bearing on the removal of the freight shed. Mayor Britschgi <br />appointed a committee consisting of Councilman Morgan, chairman, and Councilman <br />Jones and Royer, to check into the matter further as to ways and means and in <br />general continue the work of the original committee who made the study same months <br />ago. <br />COUNCILMAN GRANGER REQUESTED THE CITY CLERK TO WORK UP A SYSTEM VHEREBY A RECORD COULD <br />BE KEPT OF MATTERS REFERRED TO DEPARTMENT HEADS as he felt matters had been lost <br />sight of in the past. After discussion, Councilman Granger moved, seconded by <br />Councilman Herkner, that the City Clerk keep a tickler file on matters appearing <br />in the minutes. Motion carried. <br />COUNCILMAN GRANGER ASKED THAT THE RECORDS BE SEARCHED TO LOCATE RECORD OF REQUEST MADE <br />TO THE SOUTHERN PACIFIC COMPANY to survey need of a signal at Middlefield Road <br />and Chestnut Streets in an effort to eliminate chance of accidents at this location, <br />So ordered by motion of Councilman Granger, seconded by Councilman Spillers and <br />carried. <br />COUNCILMIAN GRANGER REFERRED TO MILITARY VETERANIS CODE REGARDING LEAVE FOR MILITARY <br />DUTY. Employees entering the service should be granted 30 day leave within any <br />fiscal year. He moved that the matter be referred to the Personnel Board for <br />study, seconded by Councilman Morgan and carried. <br />COUNCILMAN ROYER SUGGESTED THAT STUDY MEETING BE HELD before the rent decontrol meeting <br />of January 8th. <br />COUNCILMAN HERKNER REPORTED ON A MIEETING WITH THE CITY MANAGER regarding painting of <br />equipment. Color panels will be obtained from Paint firms and a recommended color <br />will be decided upon. <br />COUNCILMAN SPILLERS WILL BE ALLOWED TO LEAVE THE STATE on motion of Councilman Morgan, <br />seconded by Councilman Royer, and carried. <br />COUNCILMAN MORGAN CO141MENDED THE WORK OF THE POLICE DEPARTMENT in handling traffic on <br />Saturday.. December 9th, at which time school crossing guards were pressed into <br />service during the rush hours. <br />COMMUNICATION RECEIVED FROM SHELL OIL COMPANY GIVING NOTICE OF TERMINATION OF AGREEMENT <br />covering location of City Sign at Five Points, effective January 11th. This becane <br />necessary due to Shell Company enlarging their station which will take in the <br />Property on which the sign is located. Councilman IJ(organ moved that the matter be <br />referred to the City'Manager to find a location to which the sign might be removed' <br />Motion seconded by Councilman Spillers, and carried. <br />
