Martin to the specifications- incorporated in th �551 1 i' <br />e <br />contract., Councilman Spillers moved that City Attorney, City IGanager and City Engineer <br />meet with Mr. Martin and report back to the Council their recommendation, seconded by <br />Councilman Granger and carried. <br />FF:'IJIIIG C0P,,11,1ISSION 11ECOMIVIENDATIOII REZONE LOT 2, BLOCK 13, LENOLT TO 3-2 (corner "A" and <br />Arguello Streets). Attorney Paul McCarthy appeared representing Mrs. i,4arie Schoelles, <br />owner of this propety- She had requested Planning Commission to rezone from R-1 to <br />R-3, but they recommended R-2. l''lrs. Schoelles and.a buyer for her property providing <br />he could build a triplex, one-story in keeping with the surrounding buildings. Mr. <br />Harry H. Weiner Submitted a letter and appeared in person objecting to the rezoning <br />and that it remain R-1 as originally planned. 'width of lot was 36.24 ft Mr. Chestner <br />Hefner opposite to the lot and facing it signed a petition that he had no objection <br />to the proposed building. Fourteen signed a petition opposing the triplex., Council- <br />man Royer moved this be referred back to the Planning Commission with thoughts expressed <br />that if permit was granted to rezone to R-3 there would be no way of controlling <br />what would go on the property unless building requirements were more or less conditional, <br />seconded by Councilman Herkner, Councilman Granger opposed a 2 -story dwelling but did <br />not object to a 3 -apartment one-story only. Councilman Spillers thought zone should <br />remain an R-1. Yotion Carried. ll <br />ILVIIIIG C0131ISSION RECOi',XENDATION ANNEX CERTAIN AREAS IN HIGHLANDS OF MIERALD LAKE <br />Petition to annex Lots 1 to 12, Block 4, Koch Construction Company and Lots 14 to 17 <br />inclusive, Block 6, and Lot 1, Block 3, Royce, McCarthy & Aice, Planning Commission <br />recommended be held up until such time as all blocks 3,4,5 and portions of blocks <br />6 and 7, fronting on Glenwood be included in the petition. Mr. Koch appeared and <br />stated that petitions were made to keep annexation on Uninhabited bases to keep below <br />necessity to call for election but there would be gaps in the City Limits on account of <br />those applying for annexation. City Engineer stated it would be more expensive for , <br />the sewers if they came in piecemeal. In the case of Mr. Koch he would be paying the <br />entire cost of the sewer and at the present time his property was not contiguous to the <br />City. In regard to annexation Councilman Granger referred to an article in the Tribune <br />and stated no one had discouraged anyone who wished to annex other than Friendly Acres. <br />Annexation was not encouraged, the City generally having to pay the bill. Councilman <br />Royer moved that City Attorney bring back report and work on a petition basis for the <br />best way to annex these parcels, seconded by Councilman Spillers. <br />"111I1TI111 WAS RECEIVED FROM RECREATION COMMISSIONER RAY WEYMOUTH last week and City A4anager <br />appointed Mr. Irving Gold to fill the unexpired term to April 12, 1953 for the Council's <br />approval. Councilman Spillers moved that recommendation be approved, seconded by Council- <br />man Royer and carried. Mr. Gold was sworn in by the City Clerk and hoped to fulfill <br />the duties of the office. Affidavit of publication was ordered filed by <br />the Idayor. <br />
