Council for annexa-
tion of property known as Lot 10 Block 17 in Oak Knoll area. The property adjoining
and in front had been annexed to the City-. City Engineer Jain stated Mr. Mast had
contacted him by phone and his reason for annexation was to secure sewer connection
to the City lihe. The policy of the Council had been to refuse any more sewer con-
nections. They had trouble with the septic tank. However, Mr. Jain stated they were
not exactly adjacent to the City. This was referred to City Engineer Jain on motion
of Councilman Spillers and he was to contact Mr. Mast and inform him of the sewer
situation, seconded by Councilman Jones. Motion carried. City Engineer Jain stated
they would have considerable expense to connect to the sewer line of the City as there
was no line close. City Attorney Currie thought all petitions for annexation should
be referred to the City Engineer as a regular policy in order to have their questions
on water and sewer connections cleared up before application for annexation.
ANNA FRIEDb1AN, 36 LAUREL STREET, APPEALED FOR REDUCTION IN LICENSE FEE, stating she had
been ill and had to close her second hand shop for a period of time. Her intake was
$3.00 and $4.00 per day, about $50.00 per month when open and she also asked permis-
sion to pay on a quarterly basis. Councilman Spillers moved that the request be
denied on the basis that if granted to one, it would have to be granted to all,
seconded by Councilman Jones and carried.
ALLEGED DAMAGE TO CAR WAS PRESENTED BY G. E. BLACK, 353 "All Street in the form of a claim
for $45.09 for repair of top allegedly caused by tree limbs extending beyond the
curb while car was parked on Fuller Street approximately 30 feet from Arguello Street
on Saturday, }June 3, 1950 at 12:00 P. MANOR, By Mrs. Edwin Padok, 775 Canyon Road.
The Padoks had started building their house and then applied for water connection.
The Mater Superintendent was called upon and he stated there was no shortage in this
particular area. The opinion was divided on the part of the Council, some wished to
L •S
hold to the policy of not permitting any more connections as they felt this would
defeat the ultimate purpose of trying to work out the entire water situation in
Emerald Lake, others were of the opinion that the bars could be dropped and water
connection permitted as in the present instance where there was no shortage. Con-
siderable discussion took place on this issue. Mr. A. Dienoz appeared and Mr. Baker
Baker Construction Company, who appealed for themselves and several others in the
area on the water issue.
