J. Me Cormic, 1995 Ocean
Avenue, San Francisco, Calif.
These buildings were inspected by the Fire and Building Departments and under -
pining was found to be in a dangerous condition; joist and girders dry rotting;
wiring in some of the buildings not legal; frame buildings in No. 1 Fire Zone
and they could not be made to comply; the platform at the rear of the buildings
in dangerous condition. The meters had been ordered disconnected at the res-
taurant building, 2089 Broadway. Bissell's would be vacant shortly and utility
meters could be disconnected as these stores became vacant. Some action would prob-
ably have to be taken on some of the buildings before they were vacated. It was
recommended by these departments that a report from the Health Department would be
desirable and also from the Engineering Department on the piling or underpinning.
Councilman Spillers moved that this be carried on the agenda for a,•more complete
report, seconded by Councilman Jones and carried.
STOP SIGN AT PENNSYLVANIA AVENUE AND JEFFERSON AVENUE. Affidavit of publication ordered
filed by Mayor Britschgi.
ORDINANCE No. Glib. STOP SIGNS AT PENNSYLVANIA AVENUE AND JEFFERSON AVENUE. Councilman
Spillers moved adoption of ordinance establishing stop signs, seconded by Council-
man Royer and carried on roll call. Councilman 'Morgan noted absent.
R. H. RATLIFF, PENINSULA AMBULANCE SERVICE. City Attorney Currie stated there was some
27,
question in drawing up an agreement in regard to repair and maintenance of equipment
in the ambulance. Fire Chief Lodi stated the resuscitator was occasionally checked
by them and that Mr. Ratliff had previously taken care of any other necessary
maintenance. Mayor Britschgi thought one might be needed at Fire Station No. 2,
which would be in the vicinity of the new swimming pool at Community Park. City
Manager Rolison explained .one had been included in the budget but had since been
taken out on the expected cancellation of the contract with Mr. Ratliff, but now
that City -'equipment would be continued in use by the Peninsula Ambulance another
resuscitator might be included. An inhalator was also mentioned, in connection with
the swimming pool need. Councilman Granger questioned the City liability with
regard to anything happening in the ambulance, but City Attorney Currie stated the
City was adequately covered with insurance including malpractice, etc. Previous
understanding was that the City w ould call on the 'County Ambulance and Peninsula
Anbulance Service would supplement that. Other questions came up on this and Capt.
Douglas explained that arrangements had already been made with Mr. Ratliff for the
rodeo, that an ambulance would be on either side of the Bayshore at the rodeo and
he wished to knoe if the calls would go to the County in the case of an emergency.
He also stated the service had been good and their department was satisfied. It
was understood the existing contract would be concelled at the end of June. Mayor
Britschgi suggested this be placed on the agend for two weeks and be worked out at
the budget study meetings. City Attorney Currie stated the contract could be
revewed without further compensation.
FURTHER CONSIDERATION OF THE REMOVAL OF THE RUG BUSINESS AT 730 Katherine Street, John
Hartley owner.
