No second., Councilman 11 <br />an moved that the point brought out bMr. <br />btorg E3h y Davies be referred to the Parking <br />{I ! <br />Committee for study on the alternate proposal, seconded.by Councilman Herkner. <br />Councilman Granger stated it was intent of Planning Commission to bring traffic <br />away from the depot and not to the depot, and make Franklin Street continuous, q <br />1 <br />possibly on to El Camino Real in the future, and further pointed out there were toor j <br />i j ! <br />many dead end streets in the City. Since the first motion carried was to go ahead <br />:'��;•; <br />with plans laid out by the Planning Commission originally, Councilman Morgan with- <br />drew his motion with the consent of the second in regard to Mr. Davies suggestion <br />for alternate plan of street. Councilman Granger stated h , i <br />this had been studied -for <br />two or three months and gone into from every angle and was based on further -expan- !� ;,ii <br />sion of Franklin in years to come. In considering new proposal -of ly1r. Davies it i R <br />was decided to accept it or reject it and Councilman Granger moved to proceed with <br />the recommendation of the Committee, seconded by Councilman Jones and carrieds <br />Councilman Jones thought if Mr.. Davies could show a cut in cost that he might <br />present this in proper form to the Planning Commission for their consideration.. <br />00189TTEE REPORT FIRE DEPARTMENT ADDITION, COUNCILUAN ROYER. Lir. Matt Lehman, 45 James l: <br />Street, a licensed civil engineer submitted bid offer of 5% on .new work and 8%, I'a:ir <br />.on remodelling. A Mr. Libby, Woodside an architect submitted i <br />g y, , , 7� on new work and <br />I <br />i� 9; <br />102 on old. Mr. Libby had designed this type of building before and Councilmanit <br />Spillers moved that the bid of Mr. Libby be accepted, seconded by Councilman <br />L <br />Morgan, Councilman Royer had suggested bid of lowest man. Upon further discussion (' . <br />Fire Chief Lodi stated they had their own idea of layout for the building and both <br />the Building Inspector and City Engineer thought Mr. Lehman qualified to build <br />structure of this type and size. City Manager concurred in Councilman Royer's .I j if <br />suggestion. Councilman Spillers withdrew his motion with consent of the second.! " !i <br />Councilman Royer moved that lowest bid be accepted of Mr. Lehman and that he be o it <br />authorized to prepare plans and specifications for building, seconded by Councilman <br />Jones. Motion carried, Councilman Granger and Morgan voting No as they thought the <br />bid should go to a State Licensed Architect. <br />61R• DAVIES REOPENED T_HE SUBJECT ON EXTENSION OF FRANKLIN STREET, STATING HE HAD OVER- <br />LOOKED ONE POINT THAT HE WANTED TO BRING OUT AND asked for the same consideration <br />F. <br />from the Council as that being given the incoming interests, he opposed' being left i { <br />in uno erational manner.
