<br />and City Engineer said that they had studied the project and in their opinion the
<br />procedure followed was correct and the preliminary engineering work was in order,
<br />however, the City Council would have to make the decision as to whether the spread of
<br />assessments was equitable and economical in reply to Councilman Granger's question
<br />relative to this.

<br />OF PRELIMINARY DETERMINATION
<br />BROADWAY -MARSHALL STREET AND
<br />VIC. IMPROVEtIENT DISTRICT
<br />RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Redwood City, California, that it does
<br />hereby preliminarily determine that the public interest, convenience and necessity
<br />require, and that it intends to order the following acquisitions to be had and work
<br />to be done and improvements to be made, to -wit:
<br />1. The opening and extending of Marshall Street for a width_ of 95.36 feet from
<br />its easterly terminus at Redwood Creek easterly in a direct line to Walnut Street,
<br />and the acquisition of easements therefor.
<br />2. The widening of Marshall Street, formerly known as Liguori Street, 20 feet
<br />on the southerly side, from Maple Street to Chestnut Street, and the acquisition of
<br />easements therefor.
<br />3. The opening and extending of Marshall Street from the easterly end of
<br />Marshall Street, as proposed herein to be opened and extended from Redwood Creek to
<br />Walnut Street, for a width of 80 feet easterly, to the intersection of Maple Street
<br />with the westerly end of Marshall Street heretofore known as Liguori Street, and
<br />the acquisition of an easement necessary therefor.
<br />k. The improving of Marshall Street, a portion of which was formerly known as
<br />Liguori Street, as proposed to be opened, widened and extended, from Jefferson
<br />Avenue to Chestnut Street, by grading and constructing on either side -thereof
<br />Portland cement concrete curbs, gutters and sidewalks over 4 -inch rock base, and by
<br />grading and constructing between gutters 4 -inch asphalt concrete wearing surface
<br />pavement with a 6 -inch water bound rock macadam crusher -run base pavement over a
<br />6 -inch rock'sub-base, and by constructing therein vitrified clay pipe sanitary sewer
<br />mains, and laterals, together with red burnt brick manholes complete capped with
<br />cast iron frames and covers; the construction of reinforced pipe storm drains
<br />together with red burnt brick manholes capped with cast iron frames and covers and
<br />Portland cement concrete catch basins with frames and grates.
<br />5. The construction of a continuous Portland cement concrete slab bridge on
<br />wood piles and Portland cement concrete piles poured in place, together with abut-
<br />ment walls, wing walls and guard rails across Redwood Creek in Marshall Street
<br />between Jefferson Avenue and Main Street.
<br />6. The construction of a storm water pumping plant integral with the easterly
<br />and southerly end of the wing wall of the bridge across Redwood Creek in Marshall
<br />Street between Jefferson Avenue and Main Street, to consist of a Portland cement
<br />pumping house, together with dual pumps, motors, mechanical and electrical fixtures
<br />and equipment and appurtenances.
<br />7. The acquisition of the easterly portion of Lot 72 Block 1, as shown on the
<br />map of Embarcadero Subdivision and the easterly portion of Lot 6, Block 1, as shown
<br />on the map of the Town of Mezesville, for the purpose of constructing thereon bridge
<br />wing walls and for the purpose of realigning Redwood Creek for drainage purposes.
<br />8. The opening and extending of Broadway 85 feet in width from its easterly
<br />terminus to its westerly terminus between Chestnut Street and Charter Street, and the
<br />acquisition of an easement therefor. '
<br />9. The improving of Broadway between Spring Street and Chestnut Street by
<br />grading and constructing therein Portland cement concrete curbs, gutters and side-
<br />walks over 4 -inch base, and by constructing between gutter 4 -inch asphalt concrete
<br />wearing surfaceppavement with a 6 -inch water bound rock macadam crusher run base
<br />pavement over a 9 -inch sub -base, and by constructing therein Portland cement concrete
<br />Pavement 8 -inches in thickness on the northerly side thereof opposite Lot 4 and
<br />portions of Lots 3 and 52 Block 1 and opposite Lot 10 and portions of Lots 9 and 11,
<br />Block 2, Broadway No. 3 Subdivision; the construction of reinforced cement concrete
<br />Pipe storm drains together with red burnt brick manholes capped with cast iron frames
<br />and covers and Portland cement concrete catch basins capped with frames and grates,
<br />between Maple Street and Cassia Street, in the intersection therewith of Beech
<br />Street and on the north side thereof in an existing easement opposite Lots 10 and 119
<br />Block 29 Broadway No. 3 Subdivision, and thence northerly in said easement to
<br />Marshall Street, formerly known as Liguori Street.
<br />10. The improving of Broadway as proposed herein to be opened and extended
<br />between Chestnut Street and Redwood Industrial Tract No. 1 Subdivision, by grading
<br />and constructin on either side thereof Portland cement concrete curbs, gutters and
<br />sidewalks over 9 -inch rock base, and driveway aprons, and by grading between utters
<br />from Redwood Industrial Tract No.I Subdivision westerly for a distance of 37� feet
