Councilman Royer moved introduction of ordinance, seconded <br />by Councilman Morgan and carried. <br />PARALLEL PARKING ON LOWER. BROADWAY BETWEEN CHESTNUT AND MAIN STREET. On recommendation <br />of City Street Department and Police Department the Traffic Fact Finding Committee <br />made a study of the flow of traffic on Broadway below Main Street withparticular <br />reference to the jog in the intersection at Main Street. It was recommended that <br />the Council approve parallel parking for both sides of Broadway from Main Street <br />down to Chestnut Street. City Attorney Currie stated that unless the law provided <br />otherwise the parking should be parallel. Councilman Granger moved that the City <br />Engineer's Department be authorized to paint the curb changing the parking back to <br />parallel, seconded by Councilman Werder and carried. <br />ONE HOUR PARKING ON NORTH EAST SIDE OF EL CAMINO REAL FROM JAMES AVENUE_TO,.BROADWAY. <br />The Traffic Fact Finding Committee studied the request of Weltner Motors and Zesto <br />Ice Cream and felt this was justified. Councilman Spillers moved approval of <br />recommendation, signs to be installed with the"approval of the State Highway Depart- <br />ment, seconded by Councilman Granger and carried. <br />ONE HOUR PARKING ON NORTH EAST SIDE OF EL CAMINO FROM WILLOW TO CHARTER STREET. The <br />TrafficFact Finding Committee studied parking problem at the request of one of the <br />merchants. The Committee found a great deal of "dead" parking and felt one hour <br />parking zone should be established, to be largely self -enforcing. It was recommended <br />that the Council establish this zone subject to the approval of the State Highway <br />Department. Councilman Spillers moved approval of recommendation, seconded by <br />Councilman Werder and carried. <br />FOUR WAY TRAFFIC STOP AT DUANE - OAKDALE AND WHIPPLE INTERSECTION. The Traffic Fact <br />Finding Committee made a complete four-way traffic count at this intersection where <br />a two way stop installation existed at present: It was felt that a four way stop <br />was needed and recommended that the Council pass an ordinance stopping traffic on <br />Whipple Avenue, as well as on Duane and Oakdale. Councilman Morgan moved introduc- <br />tion of ordinance, seconded by Councilman Werder and carried. <br />"WHITE" PASSENGER LOADING ZONE AT DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLES. The Department of Motor <br />Vehicles, Division of Registration requested loading zone for approximately 4.5 feet <br />. C <br />at the corner of Arguello Street and Whipple Avenue in front of their new building. <br />The zone would serve as a stopping area to end driver's test and would permit <br />examiner to leave the car ,and proceed to the next applicant for a road test. Traffic <br />Fact Finding Committee recommended that the Council grant this request and introduce <br />an ordinance to this effect. Councilman Morgan moved introduction of ordinance, <br />seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br />CITY MANAGER ROLISON WAS AUTHORIZED TO SPEND $500 for appraisal of right-of-way to extend <br />Franklin Street through Butcher Field from Jefferson Avenue to James Avenue, on <br />motion of Councilman Granger, seconded by Councilman Morgan and carried. <br />RESOLUTION No. 876 AUTHORIZING CONVEYANCE OF TAX DEEDED PROPERTY TO STATE OF CALIFORNIA, <br />Lots 16, 26;*Block 2, Lot 12, Block 3, and Lot 7, Block 5., Stambaugh Street Addition, <br />
