Ordinance had been introduced on May 5, 1952, and affidavit of publica-
tion was ordered filed. Councilman Britschgi offered ordinance for adoption, seconded
by Councilman Royer and carried. f
REAL ESTATE COMMITTEE REPORT, ACQUISITION OF LOT 2, Block G, Woodside Acres. Councilman
Herkner reported the Real Estate Commission valued the lot at 01750, and does not rec-
ommend purchase until the future of the street is determined. Councilman Royer pointed
out that other property owners will be affected, and therefore the Planning Commission
should recommend the course of action, not the Real Estate Committee. The Council was
advised that the Planning Commission wished to set plan lines in this area, and also
that the owner contemplates erecting a building which if constructed would block the
future street. Planning Commission recommends purchase of this lot, since only this
one is needed to put the street through. Councilman Britschgi moved that the City
Manager be authorized to take necessary steps to acquire this property, seconded by
Councilman Royer, who also requested that any one present who wished to be heard on
this subject'be given the opportunity to speak. Councilman Herkner thereupon offered
an amendment to the motion deferring action for 30 days in order to notify property
owners. Councilman Britschgi withdrew his motion with the consent of the second. Coun-
oilman Herkner moved that a Public Hearing be set on this matter for the second meeting
in June (June 16, 1952) and that the property owners be notified. Seconded by Council-
man Royer and carried.
REAL ESTATE COMMITTEE REPORT ON SALE OF LOT 14, Block 6, West Redwood. Councilman Herkner
reported that the property in question is a 25 ft. lot on which a bid was received, but
which bid was not accompanied by the usual 10% deposit. City Collector Perrin had been
requested by the Committee to contact the property owners on both sides of the lot in
an attempt to interest them in the purchase of the property. Mr. Perrin reported that
Mr. Fontan and Mr. D'Artais had been invited to attend the Council meeting but were
not present. Mr. Thos. Wilson, whose offer of 0600 was under consideration, protested
any further delay, and stated his willingness to make immediate payment for the lot.
City Attorney Currie advised the Council that they could waive the irregularity of this
verbal bid and accept same. Councilman Royer moved waiver of irregularity and accept-
ance of Mr. Wilson's bid of $600.00, as recommended by the Real Estate Committee, sec-
onded by Councilman Britschgi, and carried.
SIDEWALK, TENTH AVENUE - 900 Block, Friendly Acres. Councilman Herkner reported that the
Committee recommends to the Council that three sections, each 5 x 6 ft. be taken up and
replaced. He further reported that Councilman Jones is working on this problem and
hopes to be able to make a report at the next Council meeting. Councilman Royer moved
that this matter be carried on the agenda for the next regular meeting, seconded by
Councilman Herkner and carried.
