<br />CITY MANAGER REPORT AND RECOMMENDATION MARSHALL STREET IMPROVEMENTS. Mr Rolison reported that he had met with �
<br />Mr Cohn of the Land Development Cc and Frost & Brian. A written report was being prepared which would
<br />be ready for the next regular meeting. Councilman Royer moved that the matter be placed on the agenda
<br />for the June 16th meeting, seconded by Councilwoman Tinney and carried.
<br />ABATEMENT PROCEEDINGS, FRANKLIN MORTUARY, MIDDLEFIELD ROAD. City Attorney Currie advised the time for the
<br />hearing had been duly and regularly continued to this date,building had been posted, and the time to
<br />take testimony was at hand. Mr Currie, after swearing in both Building Inspector Duncan anc*ire
<br />Chief Lodi took the testimony of Mr Duncan who testified that the building including the barns and
<br />shed in the rear, in his opinion, should be razed. Mr Lodi stated his opinion that the buildings
<br />constituted a fire menace. Councilman Jones offered RESOLUTION NO. 1260 ordering the buildings razed
<br />and moved adoption. Motion seconded by Councilman Spillers, which carried on roll call.

<br />MINUTES OF ADJOURNED MEETING CF MAY 26th approved as mailed -on motion of Councilman Herkner, seconded by

<br />PUBLIC HEARING APPEAL TO PLANNING COMMISSEON GRANTING USE PERMIT TO LINK AND SCHALLACI FOR MOTEL LOTS 4 TO 9,
<br />BLOCK 14, MEZESVILLE. Approximately 9.5 property owners from the area appeared in .opposition to the
<br />use permit. Mr Dennis Woodman spoke for the group, stating that he was appearing solely in his own
<br />"
<br />behalf as a property owner. After presenting his statement of objections-,'principallythe effect
<br />of a, motel in the -area reducing the valuation of the surrounding property, Councilman Britschgi moved
<br />that Planning Commission action be rescinded and that the use permit be denied, seconded by Council.

<br />Mr Robt Dell'rrgo appeared in behalf of the dpplicants,Link and Schalacci, stating thmt the area was

<br />zoned for R -4s that the granting of the use permit was proper for the area involved, and that in his
<br />i,
<br />opinion the motel would be a credit to the area rather than a disturbing enterprise. Mrs Edmonds stated
<br />that in her opinion the matter had been covered in the hearing, and the Council proceeded with roll call.
<br />Motion carried. Councilman Spillers preceded his vote with the statement that in his opinion the Plan-

<br />ning Commission had acted after careful study, and that he could see no reason why the motel should be
<br />denied after which he voted against the motion.

<br />STERLING HEIGHTS EMERGENCY PLATER SYSTEM. Mr A F Oddstad appeared requesting that a committee be set up to
<br />i
<br />meet with him and consider the matter further. He stated that part of the area which was located above
<br />the 150 ft elevation would eventually be built up with 131 homes. His contention was that the 72 inch
<br />line would be sufficient to guarantee service, it being presumed the line would rarely be out of service.
<br />Pr In such an event stand-by pump wouldd prove to be adequate to guarantee service. Mr Oddstad bad written

<br />the Board of Fire Underwriters and Mr Goo Tracey, Manager of -the San Francisco Plater Cc for thair opin-
<br />ion. Mr Pracey stated he would furnish his opinion upon request from the City. After further discussion,
<br />Councilman Royer moved that a committee be appointed to go into the matter further, seconded by Council-
<br />man Jones. Committee consists of the following: Councilman Royer,Chairman; Councilmen Britschgi, Spill-
<br />ers, Cityrdngineer Jain, City Manager Rolison, Water Superintendent Punter and Fire Chief Lodi. Motion
<br />carried.
