Letter of City Engineer was read
In which he stated that he did not wish to recommend extension of time on Project #1
but had no objection if the City Council wished to do so. Mr. Diehl of McCammon-
Wunderlich addressed the Council and advised that the sewer was in the ground, man-
holes would be finished by Wednesday and lines would be ready for tests. He stated
further that it would be impossible to complete the paving due to wet conditions and
the extension requested was for completing that portion of the job. City Engineer Jain
explained that inspection was costing the City approximately 030 per day. After con-
siderable discussion Councilman Britschgi moved that an extension of 7 days be allowed,
report to be made at the Council meeting of August 11th, seconded by Councilman Royer.
Councilman Herkner and Mayor Granger both verified that contractor had done everything
possible to complete this job and eliminate water flowing down the streets in the area,
and they wore of the opinion that some consideration should be given. Motion carried.
COMMITTEE REPORT PROPOSED PURCHASE OF CERTAIN TAX DELINQUENT PROPERTIES. Councilman Herkner
reported on Lot 23, Block 6, Redwood Villa Park. This is a trangular piece 9..16 feet
on McEvoy, 119.19 feet on Madrone and 151 .feet at the rear. It is assessed for $lkOO,
has $90 delinquent taxes and 0609.29 street assessment against it. This lot is across
the street from Fleishman Park and in the opinion of the Real Estate Committee not
desirable for parking purposes: The Library Board had been approached as to possible
use as site for branch library. The committee is of the opinion that property should
be sold so the City can get their money out of this property; the committee will report
further at a later meeting.
