F, <br />City Attorney be directed to prepare suitable letter to Mr. Varsi*s attorney, the <br />Council to stand behind such letter as, drat him, seconded by Councilman Britschgi, <br />F <br />Sewers were not connected at this time. Motion carried. <br />MAYOR GRANGER APPOINTED MRS. TINNEY to the Creek -drainage Committee. <br />COUNCILMAN JONES WAS GIVEN PERMISSION TO LEAVE THE STATE on motion of Councilman Britschgi, <br />seconded by Councilman Royer, and carried. <br />COUNCILMAN HERKNER REPORTED THAT COMPLAINTS CAME TO THEM IN REGARD TO ROLLER MATING -RINK <br />that had been started at Main and Elm Streets, which the Planning Commission had approved. <br />He moved that it be referred to the Planning Commission for their meeting the following <br />night, that building be held up temporarily, seconded by Councilman Royer and carried. <br />COUNCILMAN ROYER REPORTED THAT THE REAL ESTATE COMMITTEE AND CHIEF LODI MET WITH MR. <br />BOURQ,UIN AND IT WAS THEIR RECOMMENDATION THAT THE APPROXIMATE 4050 sq. ft. be purchased <br />for the price of $4,000. An appraisal had been made of approximately $1.00 per sq. ft. <br />He -so moved that the City Attorney be instructed to draw up the necessary papers in <br />order that the City might go ahead with this. City Engineer Jain to submit sketch of <br />metes and bounds, seconded by Councilman Jones and carried. <br />COUNCILMAN BRITSCHGI STATED THAT SINCE THERE SEEMED TO BE A STALEMATE ON THE BRADFORD STREET <br />BRIDGE, THAT 3 members be appointed from the Council, City Engineer, City Manager and <br />meet with Larry Brian, thus getting all viewpoints together and work this out. Mayor <br />Granger asked for volunteers for this committee. Councilman'Herkner, Royer and' <br />Britschgi were appointed. Councilman Britschgi named chairman. <br />MAYOR GRANGER ASKED THAT THE CITY MANAGER CONSIDER A NEW SPEAKING SYSTEM in the budget for <br />the Council Chamber with one added microphone. <br />COUNCILMAN BRITSCHGI SUGGESTED NAME PLATES FOR THE COUNCIL MEMBERS, stating many new residents <br />did not know their Council. <br />IT WAS BROUGHT OUT THAT SOME gUALIFICATION FOR NOT VOTING ON ISSUES BY THOSE ON COMMISSIONS <br />pertaining to.real estate when and where the commissioners individual occupation was <br />related to the subject and decision in hand in specific instances. It was Councilman <br />Spillers turn as Council member to attend the Planning Commission meeting on the fol- <br />lowing night. Inasmuch as he had left the meeting, the Mayor will attend, and he <br />explained to Councilwoman Tinney the policy is that a member representing the Council <br />will attend the Planning Commission meeting to familiarize each with the Planning Com- <br />mission's work. Councilman Jones commented on the fact that according to the Charter <br />no person on the board shall become directly interested in any contract, with the City. <br />COUNCIL MEMBERS HERKNER, chairman, TINNEY and JONES were appointed in regard to sidewalks, <br />Friendly Acres - 900 Block, Tenth Avenue. <br />CLAIMS Nos. 7854 to 7R36 inclusive in the amount of 044,782.37 were approved for payment on <br />motion of Councilman Britschgi, seconded by Councilman Jones, and carried. <br />MAYOR GRANGER ASKED THE COUNCIL MEMBERS to consider and work out together items that might be <br />left off the agenda and left to the responsibility of the department heads and asked for <br />their recommendations if it was legally possible to do so. <br />ADJOURNMENT 10:50 P.
