He <br />further stated that if steel poles were, used.in..place. of..wooden.ones then in his <br />opinion they have no..idea of_taking._down.,the...signs..._Building .,Inspector Kreiss stated <br />that -these are the same., signs-. except .that.. there- are- steel ..pol.ea-zonnecting the signs <br />instead of the. wooden poles... -Councilman.- Granger _s.t.ill.. ob.jec.ted. to . having so many signs <br />.and they .could. be- ere ated..domeplace...beaide.9 Redwood .City.. He then asked that the Sign <br />Committee, look._into.the .matter..of.,the. sign-ordinance...which.San- Mateo has adopted. <br />Councilman -Stout. is .of..theo.pinion..that..Councilman,,Grange.r_ wanted .some action. He, <br />Councilman.. Stout,.. recommended.. that. this.. be .turned..ovex-to. the .Planning Commission for <br />their recommendation. , Mayor. Iierknex stated. that.. the._ point. he..was. making was that this <br />should .ba, turned. -over,, to .the. Sign Commi.tt.ea...and..the_.sign..in. question., should be checked <br />and if.found..to. b. e..larger...than.the...original._.si gm- then_this...sign- must, be made smaller. <br />He -further. stated -that. this -sign. should. be:.checked...and .measured. Councilman Granger <br />stated that the.Planning Commission should be made aware of the condition of these <br />signs. <br />YACHT HARBOR COMMITTEE REPORT. Councilman Britschgi reported that some drawings had been <br />turned -in. by Counc.ilman..Stout....A meeting. was.. called..to, discuss these drawings and <br />there. had .been _some_-disagrs.ement..,but_ no, action .had been. taken.... The first thought of <br />the Committee .was.. to start..tha. program.. In .Mar.ch..or April_ a meeting was held and at <br />that .time they -,agreed. that,Hr_...Jain.would_.s_tart...a. drawing of. the cross section of the <br />Yacht -Harbor. following.. the.. di.c.tate,s..of...Qounailman..3.tout' a -plans.-_ The. entire area has <br />to be staked and surveyed. The Engineers.felt that the..Parking Lat.was of major imp.a- <br />ortance and had.. to -give it priority over the Yacht.Harbor plans, however, since the <br />parkingr lot is. now. well --underway .they..can.._devote..some time .to .making.. the plans which, <br />when finished.. will -be, brought-to.the.. attention. -o£. the...Po.rt..Commission and the Yacht <br />Harbor Committee. <br />Councilman Britschgi further reported that recently he had called a meeting with Col. <br />Ailen,. members.of the Port Commission, the Port Manager, members of the Park and <br />Recreation Commission. and. other. interes.ted departments and representatives. The most <br />important item.a.t,.this meeting was.the settlement of the realignment of the railroad <br />tract..and .it.. could be. made .on ..a..curve An a. manner... which would not spoil in any way the <br />Port property. <br />The.first thing.that the Committee would like to recommend is that the Engineering <br />Department-be.allowed. to.. prepare. -the- plans . and .s.pe.cs. for the.. building of the lgvee <br />and new ..road .whi.ch_.will..be called ."Eas.t dike and roadway. in front. of the Stanford <br />boat house'.. They will .have -to. move_ the..o.ld_.road..and..build. It up and place it in a <br />proper _position,.b.efare going., ahead .with, .the-dreAging. There_.is.. some, foreign material <br />which mill..have_.t.o. ,be, removed..befo.re_ the. dredging can.. be done.. He. stated that the <br />Engineering -Department .wIll.have.. to .find_.s.ome method. ,of removing -this foreign mater- <br />ial .from the area. <br />The -.Port Commission. will..meet.and..make_certain recommendations. to the railroad as to <br />the piling and to see what their suggestions would.be. to installing brick-a,;irrack <br />wall.
