I 9 <br />PUBLIC'HEARING, PLANNING COMMISSION DENIAL H. C. LINDGREN TO RESUBDIVIDE LOT 8, BLOCK 9, <br />WELLESLEY PARK (501 EDGEWOOD ROAD) INTO TWO'LOTS. Affidavit of mailing was ordered filed. <br />There were no written protests. Mr. Harry E. Smith, representing Mr. Lindgren, spoke <br />in favor of his client's resubdivision. 'He stated that there was 16,000 square feet in <br />the lot in question. If allowed to split -the lot, one lot would have 70800 square feet <br />and the other lot would have 89100 'square feet. He stated that Edgewood Manor had been <br />granted a similar subdivision some time ago. In his opinion, it was not feaseble to <br />build one, house on 16,000 square feet of ground. Mr.,`Smith stated that at the time of <br />the Planning Commission hearing a petition with 24 signatures approving the resubdivision <br />had been presented: This was confirmed by Planning Commissioner Greenwold who was in <br />i� <br />the audience. The petition, however, was not at hand. Walter Murphy, North Redwood <br />i <br />Neighbors, had presented petition to the Planning Commission protesting any lot split on <br />this piece of property. Leonard McCarthy`and Mrs. Gus Mullen both spoke in favor of the <br />jlot split. Park Q. Wray, Mr. Van Way and Ralph E. Burhart all opposed the resubdivision. <br />This was followed by a lengthy discussion. Councilman Britschgi was of the opinion that <br />the position of the two driveways entering Edgewood Road might prove to be a traffic <br />hazard as they would be backing out on a possible blind curve. He was of the opinion <br />that the plans could possibly be changed so that the driveways would be on Stratford <br />Street. ' <br />Councilman Granger wanted to know what the Council intended to do with the property <br />across the street from Mr. Lindgren's property. He stated that before he takes any <br />action on the property in question he wants to know what the Council plans to do with the <br />old Weller property. This was followed by discussion, after'w hick another discussion <br />took place in regard to splitting the lots so they would face on Stratford Street rather <br />than Edgewood Road. , <br />The Clerk was asked to read the Planning Commission's recommendation.- Planning Commiss- <br />ioner Greenwold stated the Planning'Commission's thinking in the matter. One of the <br />problems facing the Commission was where the line should be drawn for cutting and <br />splitting lots on Edgewood Road. This was followed by a lengthy discussion after which <br />Councilman Britschgi asked Mr. Smith bring in plot plans next Council meeting showing the <br />plans with the houses facing on Stratford Street. Councilman Stout moved that the public <br />hearing be continued for two weeks and the party bring in a plot plan showing the prop- <br />erty facing on Stratford Street, seconded by Councilman Britschgi who asked that Mr. <br />Smith bring in plans showing the'houses facing on Stratford Street and one plan showing <br />one house facing on Stratford Street and one facing on Edgewood Road. Mr. Smith agreed <br />and the motion carried. <br />Councilman Granger moved that the Planning Commission give consideration and establish a <br />policy as to where the resubdivision lines should be established, seconded by Councilman <br />Royer and carried. <br />PUBLIC HEARING, REZONE LOTS 82 99 & 10, BLOCK 2 AND LOTS 2 & 3, BLOCK 19 WELLESLEY PARK <br />(EDGEWOOD ROAD BETWEEN. Morser, 37 Avondale, read a lengthy report against rezoning the area. Mrs. Paul <br />Tessendorf, 45 Claremont Avenue, spoke in favor of the rezoning.
