217 <br />CITY OF SAN CARLOS REGARDING PROPOSED JUNIPERO SERR.A. HIGFVAY. The Mayor of San Carlos, in his letter, asked <br />the Council to adopt a resolution asking the County Board of Supervisors to renew the fight for the <br />continuation of Junipero Serra Highway to take the through traffic off of E1 Camino Real. Councilman <br />Granger moved that this letter be filed and the Council to take this matter into, consideration for a <br />study meeting. This was followed by discussion. Councilman Grangers motion lost for lack of a second. <br />Councilman Spillers moved that <br />this <br />be <br />referred to <br />the <br />Planning,Commission, <br />seconded <br />by Councilman Granger <br />and carried. Councilman Stout <br />was <br />of <br />the opinion <br />that <br />the San Mateo County <br />Planning <br />Commission should be <br />notified of this plan. Mayor Royer stated that the letter stated that the City of San Carlos had taken <br />.this matter up with the County. <br />Mayor Royer stated that a study meeting will be held at 7:30 P. M. on Wednesday night to take up the matter of <br />the sales tax. <br />Councilman Granger moved that the City Attorney be directed to add an amendment to the proposed sign ordinance <br />whereby there shall be no bill boards allowed within a certain area on any freeway which may go through <br />the City, seconded by Councilman Stout and carried. <br />Councilman Herkner asked for the report in regard to the water. reservoir. The Clerk read the report submitted <br />by Plater Superintendent H. L. Winter wherein he stated that in approximately two weeks, completed plans <br />and supeci£ications should be available and the City could advertise for bids. <br />Councilman Stout asked for a report in regard to the sidewalk in front of the Russ Denney property. This is <br />to be carried on the agenda for next Monday night. <br />FINAL PAYMENT, TRAINING BUILDING FOR COMMUNITY PARK, A11,216.70. Councilman Spillers moved that the bill be <br />paid, seconded by Councilman Stout and carried. <br />Councilman Granger moved that the meeting be adjourned to Wednesday night, July 11,.seconded by Councilman <br />Spillers and carried. Britschgi, <br />ON ROLL CALL the following were present: Councilmen/Floyd D. Granger, Robert V. Spillers, Hiram S. Stout, <br />Louis Weiss, Mayor Royer and City Clerk R. S. Dodge. Councilman Herkner was absent. Also present were <br />City Manager E. A. Rolison, Assitant to City Manager L. A. Kimball, Assitant to City Attorney Chester <br />Lebsack and Auditor -Assessor J. J. Brophy. <br />MAYOR Royer stated the purpose of the adjourned meeting, namely to act on the proposed bids for dredging <br />and construction of levees at the Yacht Harbor. Following are the bids which were opened on May 25, 1956: <br />YACHT HARBOR DREDGING: <br />San Francisco Bridge Company 5659,752 <br />Associated Dredging Company 60,480 <br />Olympian Dredging Company 643010 <br />CONSTRUCTION OF LEVEE:. <br />Oscar C. Holmes 23,560 <br />J. 0. Archibald 65,250 <br />Councilman Weiss stated opposition to the expenditure of money unless he can be assured that this improvement <br />is more essential and necessary than any other capital projects, especially in view of the fact that the <br />Yacht Harbor project would mean the expenditure of the greater part of the available money on had. Council- <br />man Britschgi reported that the Committee was unanimously in favor of the project. He stated the matter <br />
