21 <br />Building Inspector Kreiss stated that Mr. Jain should report on the status of whether the future street <br />widening will be considered at a later date even though the plan lines have been set. City Engineer Jain <br />was of the opinion that the State will probably want 1001 rather than the 801 which is set at the present <br />time. , <br />Councilman Britschgi wanted to place this on the agenda for the first meeting in March,.however, Mr. Jain <br />stated that he didNIt believe this would be ready by the State at that time. This was followed by <br />discussion in regard to possible construction of building in the near future. Councilman Britschgi was of <br />the opinion that this should be turned back to the Planning Commission for revision if the State was going <br />to ask for 1001 rather than 801. Councilman Granger was of the opinion that the needed property could be <br />taken from one side of the street rather than both sides. This was followed by discussion in regard to <br />where the right-of—ways should be taken. <br />i <br />Councilman Granger moved that this matter be referred to the Planning Commission, seonded by Councilman <br />Britschgi. Mr. Tuite asked that Council to ask the Planning Commission to consider the full length rather <br />than just a portion of the street. Motion carried. <br />RESOLUTION AMENDING RESOLUTION SETTING DATE FOR BOND BIAS, PARKING DISTRICT #1. City Attorney Currie stated <br />that the first bid opening date was set for January 3rd, however, the bond companies have advised that this <br />would not be a good date for opening the bids and the City would receive better bids from the bond houses <br />if the date were set for January 16th. Councilman Britschgi offered RESOLUTION 1956 AMENDING RESOLUTION <br />SETTING DATE FOR BOND BIDS, PARKING DISTRICT NO. 1 and moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman Royer and <br />carried on roll call. . i <br />CITY ENGINEER JAIN REPORT REGARDING IMPROVEMENTS ON MANZANITA, LAUREL AND HILTON. The following report was read <br />by the City Clerk: <br />"On October 17, 1955., the City Council authorized the preparation of plans and specifications, <br />and formation of an assessment district for complete street improvements on portions of <br />Manzanita,Street, Laurel Street, and Hilton Street. + <br />Since that time we have received a petition from all owners of property on Manzanita Street <br />between Heller Street and Middlefield Road requesting similar improvements. <br />S & 1V Fine Foods, Incorporated, have signed this petition, and have further approved in <br />writing the construction of an additional two inches of crusher—run rock base under the <br />pavement in this block in order to more adequately handle the trucking which they anticipate <br />into the plant. <br />We wish to recommend that this portion of Manzanita Street be added to the previously <br />authorized project, and that we be authorized to prepare plans and specificationsfor the <br />additional work.11 <br />Councilman Jones moved approval of the recommendation, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br />PLANNING COMMISSION REQUEST FURTHER TIME TO CONSIDER FIRM LINE BEYOND WHICH NO FURTHER RESUBDIVISION WILL BE <br />ALLOWED ON EDGEWOOD ROAD. Councilman noyer moved that this be carried on the agenda f or the last meeting <br />in January (January 30th), seconded by Councilman Granger and carried. <br />0 <br />INTRODUCE ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING VETERANS MEMORIAL 00321ISSION. Councilman Granger offered ordinance and moved <br />its introduction, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried on roll call. <br />AUTHORIZE CITY CLERK ACCEPT TWO DEEDS FOR WIDENING CANYON ROAD. On motion of Councilman Britschgi,• seconded by <br />Councilman Stout, the City Clerk was authorized to accept the 101 widening of Oak Knoll Drive on portions <br />of Lots 2, 4, 5 and 6, Block 27, Oak Knoll Manor, from Axel G. Backlund and also a deed for a portion of <br />1 Lot 6, Block 27, Oak Knoll Manor, from Pete and Edith Ordazzo. Motion carried. <br />1 PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION REGARDING PROPOSED TURFING CHESTNUT STREET PLAYGROUND. The following letter <br />was read by the Clerk: <br />"At its last meeting,the Park and Recreation Commission unanimously voted to go on record <br />as being opposed to your recent decision to turf Chestnut Park. <br />Our objection to this project had been referred to you in correspondence submitted to <br />the City Council after the Snyder report of April 30, 1951, recommending the outright <br />sale of Chestnut Park, and our more recent letter May 11, 1955., recommending on the <br />
