Councilman Britschgi moved <br />that this be set f or public hearing on the third meeting in January (January 16, 1956), seconded by <br />Councilman Spillers and carried. <br />TRAFFIC FACT FINDING COMMITTEE RECOMMENDS ESTABLISHING A RED ZONE ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF WOODSIDE ROAD IN FRONT <br />OF THE WASHINGTON SCHOOL FOR A DISTANCE OF FORTY FEET. Councilman Spillers moved approval of the traffic <br />Committee's recommendation subject to approval of the^State, seconded by Councilwan Jones and carried. <br />TRAFFIC FACT FINDING COLITITTEE RECOM1,1ENDS THAT STOP SIGNS BE INSTALLED ON BRADFORD STREET AT EACH OF ITS INTER- <br />SECTIONS WITH WINSL(If STREET. Councilman Britschgi brought up the matter of all the stop* signs already on <br />Bradford Street. Police Chief Faulstich stated the situation as it appears from a traffic standpoint. <br />Councilman Spillers moved approval of the Traffic Committeets recommendation, seconded by Councilman Royer <br />and carried. <br />Councilman Spillers moved that the possibility of stop signals at Jefferson Avenue and Hudson Street and referred <br />this to the Traffic Fact Finding Committee, seconded by Councilman Royer and carried. <br />Councilman Spillers recommended that a full report be made on Industrial Way. 'City Attorney Currie stated that <br />this matter will be tried in Court in February and a legal answer should be made by the first of March. <br />Councilman Spillers left the meeting at 10:12 p.m.. <br />TRAFFIC FACT FINDING COMMITTEE RECOT.1MENDS KEEPING PRESENT ESTABLISHED PLAN LINES AT WHIPPLE AND EL CAMINO REAL. <br />The Clerk read the following letter: <br />ItThe matter referred to the Traffic Fact Finding Committee regarding the possible <br />abondonment of existing plan lines at E1 Camino Real and Whipple Avenue was* <br />discussed at the meeting on this date. <br />It.has been suggested that plan lines on the north-west corner be discarded in <br />favor of acquiring property on the south-east corner of the intersection for <br />the eventual improvement. However, it -should be pointed out that in order to make <br />improvement at this location, property that is presently improved would have to <br />be purchased; the railroad crossing, including signalization, would have to be <br />re -located; and, more than one parcel of property would have•to-be acquired, <br />which in the opinion of this Committee, would make the improvement prohibitive <br />from the cost standpoint. <br />It is the recommendation of this Committee that the existing plan lines on <br />the north-west corner of E1 Camino Real and Whipple Avenue be retained and it <br />is strongly recommended that the property involved be purchased as soon as <br />possible for the improvement of this intersection.tl <br />Councilman Jones moved acceptance of report, seconded by Councilman Granger. On the question Councilman <br />Granger asked if anyone had written to the State in regard to this matter. City Engineer Jain stated that <br />the State isn't interested in this as it is only a City matter. Chief Faulstich stated that the only <br />problem here is the cross traffic on El Camino Real. This was f ollowed by -discussion. -Councilman Britschgi <br />was of the opinion that the plan lines at the present time takes too much of this useable property and it <br />is a very valuable corner. Councilman Royer than amended the motion that the proper authorities obtain an <br />appraisal based on the present plan lines. Councilman Britschgi said he would second the motion if they <br />
