280 <br />Minutes of the Regular Meeting <br />Redwood City Council <br />September 17; 1956s 8:00 P. M. <br />INVOCATION was lead by City Clerk R. S. Dodge who read a prayer prepared by Reverend Wilbur TFTesterdahl, <br />Pastor Peninsula Covenant Church. <br />P <br />ON ROLL CALL the following were noted present: Councilmen Carl A. Britschgi, .Floyd D. Granger, <br />Sidney D. <br />Herkner, Hiram S. Stout, Louis Weiss, Mayor William H. <br />Royer and City Clerk <br />R. S. Dodge. <br />Councilman <br />Robert V. Spillers was noted absent. Also present were <br />City Attorney Robert <br />Costello, City Engineer <br />i <br />Glenn PJI. Jain, Assistant to City Manager L. A. Kimball, <br />Water Superintendent <br />H. L. Winter, <br />Police <br />Chief William Faulstich, Building Inspector S. H. Kreiss, Street Maintenance Superintendent Doyld <br />Chester, Fire Chief J. L. Lodi, Assessor -Auditor John J. Brophy, Planning Commissioner Carl Sjoberg <br />P <br />and Accoutn-Clerk Vivian Holmqu3.st'L. ' d <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES. Councilman Weiss stated that he had noted a correction he would like made. On the <br />minutes of September 11th, page 4, 4th paragraph, the motion should be that the City Manager see that <br />minutes are taken and that each member of the Council is supplied with a copy of the minutes of the study <br />meetings. Councilman Stout had some corrections he wanted made on the meeting of September 11th. <br />First correction is on page 3; 2nd paragraph; Councilman Royer voting NO should be added to the motion <br />on roll call. Mrs. Jain should be changed to read Mr. Jain. Page 4 of the same minutes, Councilmen <br />Britschgi and Spillers were noted absent and not Councilmen Britschgi and Stout. 5th page, second <br />paragraph, should be October 7th to 13th. Councilman Stout also referred to the next to last paragraph <br />on this same page in regard to the ties, hcraever, he did not state any specific change to be made. <br />Councilman Granger moved that the minutes of September 4th and 11th be approved as mailed with the <br />corrections made as noted, seconded by Councilman Herlmer and carried. <br />RESOLUTION REGARDING PROPOSED COUNTY 7JIDE SALTS TAX. Councilman Stout moved to hold this over for one week <br />for a full Council, Seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried. <br />RESOLUTION 2099 ESTABLISHING OFFICIAL PLAN LINES JEFFERSON AVENUE FROM HIGHLAND AVENUE TO 1701 EAST OF VISTA <br />DR;VE was offered by Councilman Stout who moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman Granger and <br />carried on roll calls Councilman Spillers being noted absent. <br />The Clerk read the resolution. Councilman Stout offered RESOLUTION 2100 COMII ENDING NURSERYMEN AND FLO?M <br />GRXERS OF REDWOOD CITY AND SAN MATEO COUNTY and moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman Herkner. <br />Councilman Britschgi raised the question of what would happen to the resolution now that it was offered. <br />The Clerk stated that he would mail a copy to each person and nursery listed in said resolution. The <br />motion carried on roll call with Councilman Spillers being -noted absent. <br />RESOLUTION 2101 CONGRATULATING THE REDUOQD CITY MERCHANTS SOFT -BALL TEAM FORIVT11NING THE CALIFORNIA -NEVADA <br />. NORTH PACIFIC REGIONAL CH".MPIONSHIP SOFTBALL TOURNICIENT was offered by Councilman Herkner who moved <br />its adoption, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried on roll cal -12 Councilman Spillers being }, <br />L <br />noted absent. <br />The Clerk stated that this item on the agenda was not correct and should be made to read Resolution Adopting <br />1956-57 Expenditures of Engineering Allocation for City Streets. City Engineer Jain spoke about the <br />change in this resolution and the way it differed from the agreement for Major City Streets. This would r <br />bb':for street functions only and would -not be tied down to any specific project. For an example, <br />City Engineer Jain stated this money could be used for the Spruce Street job. Councilman Weiss offered <br />RESOLUTION 2102 ADOPTING 1957 FISCAL -YEAR EXPENDITURES OF ENGINEERING ALLOCATION FOR CITY STREETS FOR <br />GAS TAX PURPOSES and moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried on roll call., <br />Councilman Spillers being noted absent. City Engineer Jain stated that they will have to make an <br />annual report to the State on all expenditures from this fund. <br />
