3 <br />It is the recommendation of the 'City Engineer that the bid of.C. J. Simms be accepted as <br />the best bid, for the three discings at the unit prices listed in his proposal for the <br />contract period of three years. This was concurred in by the City Manager. Councilman <br />Royer moved approval of the recommendations, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried. <br />APPLICATION•FOR PERMIT TO CONDUCT "LIQUIDATION SALE", GENERAL FURNITURE COMPANY, 1550 El <br />CAMINO REAL. Wayne Millington, representing furniture company, spoke on behalf of his <br />clients. The City Clerk stated that everything was in order according to the requirements <br />established by Ordinance. Mr. Millington read a letter wherein his clients were notified <br />that they would be expected to vacate the premisses by January 15th. Councilman Spillers <br />moved approval of the sale, seconded by Councilman Britschgi who stated that there was no <br />other action the Council could take. In answer to Councilman Jones, Mr, Millington <br />6 <br />stated 'that these were the same people who conducted a liquidation sale in 1953 of the old <br />stock that they purchased when they bought the business. Councilman Granger stated that <br />he was going to vote no because he was of the opinion that these sales should not be <br />conducted at this time of the year and also because of the stand he took last Council <br />i <br />meeting. This was followed by discussion afterihich the motion carried on roll c all with <br />Councilman Granger and Jones voting NO. <br />FURTHER CONSIDERATION J. DINGMAN REQUEST FOR INCREASE DRIVEWAY WIDTH AT 903 -.911 ADAMS STREET, <br />ALSO CONCRETE SECTIONBETWEEN SIDEWALK AND PROPERTY LINE. Mr. Dingman stated that he <br />would be willing to put in a full sidewalk if.he were allowed to put in the driveway. <br />Councilman Britschgi asked if two driveways could be built. City Engineer Jain stated <br />that he did not believe this could be done. The driveways must be 20 feet apart. This <br />was followed by discussion after which Councilman Royer moved that the permit be granted <br />on both requests, seconded by Councilman Spillers. This was followed by discussion <br />regarding approval before the buildings are completed or building permits issued. Motion <br />carried. <br />CLAIM FOR ALLEGED INJURIES OF CARL SIGMUND INCURRED AT MUNICIPAL POSTOL RANGE. Councilman <br />Britschgi moved that the claim be denied and referred to our insurance carrier, seconed <br />by Councilman Royer and carried. <br />PROPOSED UNIFORM FOOD ORDINANCE. Attorney Lebsack reported that he had prepared the ordinance, <br />however there was one blank space that he would have to fill in regarding the office or <br />officer to be appointed to the Board of Review. Councilman Stout moved introduction or <br />ordinance providing that a member of the Council will be appointed to the Board of Review, <br />seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried. <br />' RESOLUTION APPROVING ASSESSMENT DIAGRAM CONYON ROAD WATER AND SEWERS. Councilman Royer <br />offered RESOLUTION 1952 APPROVING ASSESSMENT DIAGRAM FOR CANYON ROAD WATER AND SEWERS &nd <br />moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman Stout. Discussion followed in regard to sewer <br />connection of Howard E. Durham who had objected to the Council some time ago. Motion <br />carried on roll call. <br />I RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING STOP SIGN ON INDUSTRIAL WAY AT G STREET, ALSO ON DOUGLAS AT BROADWAY. <br />Councilman Jones offered RESOLUTION 1953 ESTABLISHING STOP SIGNS ON INDUSTRIAL WAY AT G <br />STREET AND ON DOUGLAS AVENUE AT BROADWAY and moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman <br />Spillers. Chief Faulstich stated that the stop sign on Industrial Way is a temporary <br />sign.until final improvement of the street.
