Councilman Granger offered ORDINANCE 842 AMENDING SECTIONS 2.1, 2129 2.10, 2.12, 2.22 and 2.26 OF ORDINANCE NO. 824 TO PROVIDE SALARY ADJUSTMENT; TO CREATE CERTAIN NEW CLASSIFICATIONS OF EMPLOYMENT AND TO PROVIDE FOR SALARY ADJUSTMENTS and moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried on roll call. FURTHER CONSIDERATION, ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING SEWER RENTAL CHARGES. Councilman Herkner reported that the Commit— tee had met with Mr. Wagstaff, attorney for the Hospital. After considerable discussion they could not come up with an agreement. The Committee compromised and suggested that inasmuch as the hospital area is 2/3 outside the City limits and 1/3 inside that they charge $98.00 a month for the 1/3 inside and $65.24 a month for the outside area or a total of $163.24 a month, the rate to go up proportionately if the hospital is englarged. .The rate would be $7.00 inside the City Limits plus 2/3 of $7.00 for the outside rate. Councilman Spillers was of the opinion that the hospital sho Id be considered in a category by itself. Councilman Weiss was of the opinion that since this is an institution that they should be given special consideration and he feels that the Committee gave this consideration when they made their recommendation. He felt that,the City Attorney should draw up an amendment to the. ordinance or draw up a new ordinance's Councilman Stout moved approval of the committee's ecommendation the matter to be referred toI.the City Attorney to work out with the Hospital Board, seconded by Councilman Granger and carried, Councilman Spillers voting N0. Councilman Spillers offered RESOLUTION 2180 GRANTING VARIANCE FROM CERTAIN PROVISIONS IN THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE, CITY OF REDWOOD CITY TO FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH and, moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman Weiss and carried on roll call. FINAL ACCEPTANCE, PECAN COURT IMPROVEMENTS. The City Engineer recommended acceptance of the improvements in Pecan Court Tract subject to the following conditions: 1. Repainting of electrolier standards; present painting is not satisfactory. 2. Deposit with the City in the amount of three hundred dollars to guarantee the furnishing and planting of trees. NO Payment by the owner of all engineering and inspection charges due to the City, before release of the performance bond. 4. Correction of all defects in materials and workmanship which might appear within one year from date Of acceptance. TRAFFIC COMMITTEE RECOMMEND THE CITY COUNCIL INITIATE SOME FORM OF ACTION TO BRING ABOUT THE NEEDED STREET IMPROVEMENTS ON JEFFERSON AVENUE BETWEEN HIGHLAND AVENUE AND FARMHILL BOULEVARD. City Engineer Jain stated that an assessment district should be formed, the gas tax to pay for the middle of the street similar to that of Alameda de las Pulgas. The improvements would be from Dover Road up to Farmhill Blvd. Councilman Stout moved that the City Engineer notify the people in the area involved of the Council's intent. Mr. Jain stated that he should be authorized to draw up the plans and specifications so they would have some figures to work with. Councilman Granger moved that the City Engineer be authorized to draw up the plans and specifications, the cost to be charged temporarily to gas tax, seconded by Councilman Spillers. This was followed by discussion. Councilman Stout asked to include in the motion that the people be notified of the action. This was included in the motion which carried. Councilman Spillers moved that the S treet Department be authorized to make necessary repairs to Jefferson AM Avenue at Farmhill boulevard at their discretion, seconded by Councilman Stout and carried. TRAFFIC COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION REGARDING PROPOSED HOUSE RENUMBERING PROGRAM. A check by the office of the Building Inspector revealed this renumbering will develop into a major project. The Traffic Committee took these facts under submission and recommends against renumbering in a piece—meal manner. The Committee favors the grid plan and feels that this, project should be given to a qualified firm and have them make a survey of the entire community with complete and final renumbering as its goal.
