<br />Councilman Granger moved that the letter be made a part of the record, seconded by Councilman Spillers and
<br />carried. Councilman Granger moved that a copy of the City Engineer's letter be sent to the people, seconded
<br />by Councilman Spillers and carried.
<br />Claims 22319 through 22160, totling $96,763.17, were ordered paid on the motion of Councilman Spillers,
<br />seconded by Councilman Weymouth and carried.
<br />John Quinn asked about the disposition of the gate crossing in regard to the S. P. Company. The Mayor announced
<br />that the City has b een in contact with the S. P. Company. The City does not want to close Maple Street and
<br />they have received several communications in regard to this crossing. A letter is to be mailed by the City
<br />Manager in the next day or so on this matter.
<br />Sidewalk notice, Miss Loraine Michel, Lots 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, 10, Block 5, Hancock's Addition. Miss Michel, through
<br />a lengthy letter from her attorney, asked for special consideration in regard to the sidewalk notice she
<br />received from the City Engineer. Miss Michel had until May 17th to make all corrections. The City
<br />Engineer asked that this letter be referred to the Sidewlk Committee. Councilman Spillers so moved,
<br />seconded by Councilman Weymouth and carried.
<br />Councilman Spillers moved that the meeting be adjourned to Monday evening, May 13th, seconded by Councilman
<br />Weymouth and carried. Meeting adjourned at 10:50 P.M.

<br />ON ROLL CALL the following were noted•present: Councilmen Floyd D. Granger, Robert V. Spillers, Hiram S. Stout,
<br />Louis Weiss, Ray Weymouth, Mayor William H. Royer and City Clerk R. S. Dodge. Councilman Sidney D. Herkner
<br />was noted absent., Also present were City Manager E. A. Rolison, City Engineer Glenn 21. Jain, City Attorney
<br />Robert J. Costello, Water Superintendent H. L. Winter, Assistant Water Superintendent Warren Mitchell,
<br />Engineering Associate Arthur Eskelin, Assistant to City Manager L. A. Kimball, Police Chief William
<br />Faulstich, Police Captain Theodore Moudakas, Assessor -Auditor John J. Brophy, Building Inspector S. II.

<br />PUBLIC HEARING, REZONE FROM R-2 TO R-3 DISTRICT THE AREA BOUNDED BY HUDSON, POPLAR, HESS ROAD AND REAR OF AREA
<br />FRONTING ON WOODSIDE ROAD. There were no written protests. The following people objected to the rezoning:
<br />Harvey Laird, 1515 Hudson Street, John Vickfors, 1499 Hudson Street, Mr, Lewon, 1557 Ebener Street and

<br />f, Mr. Giovanni. The majority of the above mentioned.people received notice of this hearing but they did not
<br />lL receive notice of the previous public hearing on the matter of rezoning. They Mayor announced that the
<br />same property that these people were protesting last week was included in this rezoning. The Clerk read
<br />the letter from the Planning Commission.
<br />Councilman Weiss read a prepared statement wherein he stated that one of the important facts that they
<br />must weigh in connection with the land use plan is whether or not the providing of 491 acres of R-3, R -3-G
<br />and R-4 is not excessive, since our consultant has indicated the ideal as 160 acres for a city of 80,000
<br />population. It was his belief and thinking that to take action at this time on this proposal would be
<br />premature and he moved that this public hearing be continued until June 17th by which time it is highly
<br />possible that action on the land use plan should have been completed, seconded by Councilman Stout and
<br />carried.
