35 <br />driveway at their service station located at El Camino Real and James Avenue, The Traffic Bureau made <br />an investigation of this request and recommend denial since the station will be entirely rebuilt, and <br />driveways can be located to meet the requirements of the ordinance without hardship. The Clerk read <br />the letter submitted by the Texaco Company. Art EskeJ4in, reported for the Traffic Bureau. There were <br />no representatives present from the Texaco Company. Councilman Fields moved to uphold the Traffic <br />Bureaii's recommendation and deny the variance (MINUTE ORDER #60-219 , seconded.by Councilman Rosselli <br />and carried. <br />Appeal by the Division of Highways from the granting by the Planning Commission of a Use Permit to the U. S. <br />Royal Tire Center to operate a yetail sales and service for tires and brake & wheel alignment on Lots <br />2 and 3 and portions of an abondoned alley and Lot 11, Commercial Tract, located in C -1-F and C -,1 -H -F <br />iDistricts at 2102 E1 Cam:Lno Real (between Spruce and Manz anita Streets). Mr. John Evans, representing <br />Mr. Rasso the property owner, took the position that there was no valid appeal on file from the State. <br />Councilman Royer moved to refer the matter,to the City Attorney for an opinion as to whether or not <br />there was a valid appeal and report back to the Council next weeks (MINUTE ORDER #60-220)s seconded by <br />Councilman Rosselli. Mr. Evans had no objection to this procedure but asked if it is found to be a <br />valid appeal that the public hearing be set at the earliest possible date. The motion carried unani- <br />mously on roll call. <br />Request of Police Department to replace two patrol cars, Nos. 44 and 47. Councilman Fields moved adoption <br />of RESOLUTION NO. 3234 APPROVING SPECIFICATIONS FOR TWO NEPA POLICE CARS; AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY CLERK <br />TO CALL FOR BIDS THEREFOR, seconded by Councilman Stehle and carried unanimous]y on roll call. <br />REQUEST BY DIVISION CF HIGHWAYS FOR CANCELLATION OF TAXES on three parcels of property acquired by the bivi- <br />sion of Highways for State Highway purposes in the vicinity of Five Points. <br />Parcel 1: Por. Lots 10 and 11, Block 273, Eastern Addition - Spruce and Shasta Streets. <br />Parcel 2: NE -LY 33' of Lot 11 an4 the SWly 2' of Lot 12, Block 27, Eastern Addition -Spruce and <br />Shasta Streets. <br />P <br />1 <br />Parcel 3: Lot 4, Block 27, Eastern Addition - Manzanita and Hancock⦠<br />Councilman Herknermoved to cancel the taxes as requested subject to approval of the City Attorney <br />(MINUTE ORDER #60-221)', seconded by Councilman Fields and carried. <br />Resolution of intention of the City Council to annex territory known as t'Cordille ras Glen" (Tehaney Sub- <br />division, a recorded County Subdivision consisting of 5 parcels between Edgewood Road and Cordilleras <br />Road). The Clerk was authorized,to receive and file the report of the Boundary Commission; file the <br />affidavit of engineer verifying contiguity; receive andifile affidavit of Clerk verifying less than 12 <br />registered voters in territoryt Cquncilman Fields moved adoption of RESO;UTION NO. 3235 BEING A RESOLU- <br />TION OF THE COUNCIL CF THE C11Y OF REDWOOD CITY GIVING NOTICE OF, AND DECLARING, ITS INTE14TION T0, <br />INITIATE ON ITS ONN MOTION PROCEEDINGS TQ ANNEX TO SAID CITY CERTAIN UNINHABITED TERRIT=; DESIGNATING <br />IT BY THE,NAME "CORDILLERAS GLEN ANNEXATION° AND DESCRIBING SAID TERRITORY; GIVING ITS REASONS FOR <br />DESIRING SAID ANNEXATION; MAKING CERTAIN FINDINGS RESPECTING SAID PROCEEDINGS; AND, GIVING NOTICE OF THE <br />TIME AND PLACE SAID COUNCIL WILL HEAR PROTESTS TO SAID ANNEXATION, seconded by Councilman Granger and <br />carried unanimously on roll call (public hearing December 12, 1960). <br />Hes oke of the problem of card stopping over <br />Paul Tessendorf addressed the council regarding 'traffic°* p p op g <br />the pedestrian lane at El Camino Real and Whipple. Councilman Fields moved, to refer the matter to the <br />Traffic Bureau and if they need any further information they can contact Mr. Tessendorf (MINUTE ORDER <br />#60-222), seconded by Councilman Herkner and carried.' <br />I <br />Appointment to the Personnel Board. Councilman Fields moved to continue the matter for one week, seconded <br />by Councilman Herkner and carried. <br />
