MAYOR WEYMOUTH announced that he would be absent from the City from August 13 through August 20, and asked that <br />a Mayor pro -tem be appointed for this period. Councilman Herkner moved appointment of Councilman Granger <br />to be Mayor pro tempore for the period August 13 through August 20, seconded by Councilman Rosselli and <br />carried. <br />Councilman Granger questioned the necessity for applicants to apply to the Planning Commission for a permit to <br />remove a house from within Redwood City to a location outside of the City Limits. He expressed the opinion <br />that the procedure should be simplified through amending the existing ordinance. Further discussion brought <br />out the fact that an amendment to the present ordinance is being prepared by the City Attorney for sub- <br />mission to the Council, whereby a requirement would be added relative to cleaning a lot after removal of a <br />structure. The City Attorney stated that both amendments could be brought in at the same time. <br />Councilman Granger moved that the City Attorney prepare an amendment to the house moving ordinance to el- <br />iminate application to the Planning Commission for permission to remove a structure from within the corporate <br />limits of Redwood City to an outside location, seconded by Councilman Rosselli and carried. (MINUTE ORDER <br />x{60-182) <br />Councilman Granger suggested that the street light improvement program be extended to include the block between <br />E1 Camino and Arch, on Broadway, and that provision be made for this extension during reconstruction at <br />Broadway -Brewster -Arch. After discussion Councilman Granger moved that the property owners be contacted, <br />including the High School Board of Trustees, in an attempt to initiate improvement proceedings for this <br />project, seconded by Councilman Fields and carried. M. <br />Invocation was led by Reverend Robert Anderson, Church of the Nazarene. <br />ON ROLL CALL the following were noted present: Councilmen Ron W. Fields, Sidney D. Herkner, John S. Rosselli, <br />William H.Royer, Harold C. Stehle, Mayor pro -tem Floyd D. Granger, and City Clerk Helen C. Moore. Mayor <br />Ray A. Weymouth iras noted absent. Also noted present were City Manager J. E. Neal, City Attorney Robert J. <br />Costello, Assessor -Auditor John J. Brophy, Planning Director Dick Wilkinson, Police Captain Theodore <br />Mcudakas, Associate Planner Speer McClellan, Deputy City Engineer Melvin Moen, Building Inspector S. H. <br />Kreiss and Deputy City Clerk Vivian Rifbjerg, <br />Councilman Rosselli moved approval of the minutes of August 8th as mailed with the exception that the name Leo <br />Tanner be changed to Leo Kanner, seconded by CouncilmanlRoyer and carried. , <br />CONTINUATION OF PUBLIC HEARING ON THE RESOLUTION OF INTENTION BY THE PLANNING COMMISSION TO AMEND SECTION 4,2 <br />OF ORDINANCE NO. 600 SO THAT OFFICIAL PLAN LINES FOR THE EXTENSION OF NORTHUMBERLAND AND MADRONE STREETS <br />from the terminus of Madrone Street to the centerline of Boicelli Avenue and from the present terminus of <br />Northumberland to the proposed extension of Madrone Street may be established. The public hearing was de- ' <br />clared open. There being no protests, written or oral, Councilman Rosselli moved to continue the public <br />hearing to September 12, seconded by Councilman Fields and carried. <br />PUBLIC HEARING ON BROADWAY STREET LIGHTING IMPROVEMENTS (RESOLUTION OF INTENTION NO. 2957)• The public hearing <br />was declared open and the affidavits of posting, publication and mailing were ordered .filed.
