Sister City Program (Council request 1/11/88) <br />(301 -15) <br />Vice Mayor Chandler said that the Port Commission is interested in working <br />with the City and other interested groups, including the schools and the AAUW <br />(American Association of University Women) in establishing a Sister City <br />Program amd suggested that if the Council is willing, a committee should be <br />appointed to pursue the matter. <br />CONSENSUS: Mayor Claire determined it to be the consensus of Council to <br />pursue the matter of establishing a Sister City Program and working with the <br />Port Commission and other interested groups to do so and appointed Vice Mayor <br />Chandler and Council members Bury and LaBerge to meet with representatives of <br />the Port Commission and others to explore the matter. <br />MEMO 1/19/88 <br />---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - - - - -- <br />9. Procedures for voting upon appointments of members of <br />boards, commissions and committees (Council request <br />1/11/88) (302) <br />Mayor Claire said that he would prefer not to vote on appointments to boards, <br />commissions and committees on the same day that applicants are interviewed by <br />Council, because he would like additional time to consider the candidates. <br />CONSENSUS: Mayor Claire determined it to be the consensus of Council that <br />persons interested in commenting on the procedure for appointing board, <br />commission and committee members put their remarks in writing for <br />consideration by Council; that the Mayor write all present appointees <br />inviting comment; and that comments are to be assembed and the matter placed <br />on a later agenda.
